rejetting carbs.

I need help in rejetting my carbs, stock air cleaner with D and D headers.
What jets would I need to make the bike run correctly?Would I have to remove carbs to rejett or leave them on? The bike is crapping out at about 8 rpms.

Hey Lee, You have way TOO MUCH Exhaust for the Stock Filter and Jets.You Probaly should go With a Stage 3 Kit with Pod Filters with the D&D Exhaust. I dont Think uping the Jets will Help as You wont be Geting Eneough Air With the Stock Filter. Carbs have to come out to get the Jets, Later Rocky :twisted:

Hey Rocky, I had a D&D on my 900 with the stock air box. Don't know what jets were in the carbs because I never checked. Just know it ran like a raped ape, no missing or cutting out. So it can be done with the right combination of parts. Wish I still had that bike in a way 'cause that would give me one of all three eli's. Ya listening Lee, experiment a little.

main jets

I own the 900 that furchin is talking about. It has #130 main jets with stock airbox and that worked real well with the D&D. I replaced the D&D with stock headers and Holeshot mufflers and I think I need to rejet, just haven't decided whether to stay with stock airbox or switch to pods (Dale Walker kit). Any suggestions? Steve

"jetting"

The measured dimensions, including thickness, of each "needle shim washer" is as follows:

ID=0.133"; OD=0.245"; Thick=0.031".

Looks to me like a "#4 flat washer" may work, as these are very close dimensionally.

You may be able to find something in a metric size, like maybe a 3 millimeter would work, just use less, or more washers, as required to achieve the same total lift.

Best time to date, 12.001 seconds @ 112 mph in the quarter mile.

I need to get one of the guys at work to cover for me, I am on call. All the guys in my dept. owe me so it shoud not be a problem. So, count me in!
 
We can always do it another weekend. For some its quite a long distance to travel. But if you guys are still coming down this way, I will plan on meeting up with you.
 
MSN weather is calling for 66 and fair skies on Sat. I am waiting for an answer today if I got my "on call" covered or not. I may chance it either way, we shall see.
 
Damnit, why couldn't I be living over there? It's pissing it down with rain here now, for the last 2 days.

Any way, I just need to drop the Blvd off at the stealer. It needs its first service, I doubt they will really measure the vavle clearance, but at least they can't admit it wasn't done. I should have it dropped off at 9 A.M.

Any idea what time you guys will be down this way?

SD, It would be a tad easier if the bike wasn't in little pieces bro!

Perhaps we could charter a boat on Lake Erie that will bring us over and help ya get that thing on the road? Wonder how many ZL's we could get on a fishin boat?
 
I think by the looks of the forecast we should try to meet up there around 11 or Noon. I got work covered till 7 or 8, after that its just hoping I don't get called!

Yea i might be running a little later. Forgot about Mothers Day. Tonights task, change oil. My intentions were to ride the xvz until the zl was ready but oh well. I haven't put the yammer in the papers yet. I want the zl1000, but not sure if i'm ready to "take it on". Gotta decide by monday.

I wouldn't call this the first zl-oa meet. that will be ohio bike week then mid ohio. Oh yea and pics of course............... :victory:

Not sure if Aleta is coming or not.
