Rear tire sizes

Im looking to get new tires on my ZL 1000 the normal size is 160-80-15 but most companies dont make that size anymore, im interested in putting dunlops back on my bike and would like to know if anyone has run into this problem and can give me some advice with what size tire i can use, any advice would be great,
Thanks

Bigbburns,
I fitted a 160/80-15 74S (Dunlop D404) on the rear and a 100/90H18 56H (Dunlop GT501F Arrowmax 56H) on the front and in the 6,537klms travelled so far I'm more than happy with them. While this specific rear tyre is not listed on the Dunlop website, it is available. The factory recommended profile takes the worry out of fitment and concerns with insurance companies wiping claims due to non standard tyres being fitted. Personally I would have loved to fit a 180/70-15 (20mm wider with virtually the same height and circumference) but none of the manufacturers recommend one for a 4.5inch rim.

These are still available here in Oz (in my case they were both off the shelf, not a special order) but if you'd prefer Bridgestone, you could try their 160/80-15 Exedra G702R 74S which is OE for the Honda VT750DC Shadow Spirit (2001-2004).

well lets see how this topic goes, I will start it but here we can post up some pics of off topic bikes,
here is my newest addition to the J&R Stable of rides its a XZ550 Yamaha Vision,. took a bit to get it sorted out, but its going to be a blast. simple, kinda fast, and a real hoot in the wind.

gonna get new skins both ends bro. just got it running today, and if anyone here happens across one of the 1/2 liter machines drop me a line, I have learned alot in the past few days... oh and I have two parts bikes also. but will make a great loaner bike. gonna break out the semigloss black and rat it out.

Speaking of Yamahas....... I'm trying to buy one of these at the moment, bstd selling it wont give a definite answer tho. 3 weeks now I've been trying to get an answer from him. :angryfire:
Its a little rough but would be a great project bike. everything is there, just needs paint n tlc.

I had one years ago and really want one again.... an absolutely mental machine. I had mine 3 weeks and scared myself so many times, I sold it after i dropped it.... My gf at the time hated it too cos she stank of 2stroke exhaust fumes all the time....lol

Not too many around these days, most have been destroyed.

Yeah... I know.. but you know what.... its like that ***** you went out with back when you were 18, you know the one, she treated you like ****, and what ever you did to tame her, she just bit you right back??? And you never really get her outta your mind....

This is what the RD500 is kinda like to me. I had one but not for long enough. It was the only bike I've ridden that really scared me, and I've ridden gixers, R1's, fibreblobs an all that etc etc... Must be the midlife crisis a comin....

Apart from the Kawa 9R and the ZL of course, the RD is the coolest bike as far as I'm concerned, showin my age i guess....lol

Gonna ring the guy right now again, see if i can corner him...

NEVER PASS A PETROL STATION NIETHER(GOOD LUCK)I MAY HAVE TALKED THE MISSUS INTO LETTING ME HAVE A ROCKET 111 IN SO MUCH THAT SHE NEVER SAID NO,MIGHT NOT OF HEARD ME ASK BECAUSE I DIDN`T EXACTLY SHOUT IT OUT.SHE SAID I`VE BEEN PROMOTED WITH PAY RISE ,I ASKED IF COULD RETIRE OR BUY A ROCKET SHE SAID I COULDN`T RETIRE ,SO DOES THAT MEAN I CAN HAVE A ROCKET????????OH NO I`M USING WOMENS LOGIC NOW :help: :help: ANDY

Sounds as close as you're going to get to a 'yes' andy so I'd go for it too. Lets play them at their own game... lol

My wife pulled that sht on me last year, threw me a question with multiple choice answer. All i knows is, a week later she had put a down payment on a new car for herself and told me that I said 'it was ok'... but be careful andy, if she says you can have your rocket... I bet you'll be looking at new kitchens or something not long after... lol

My dad has a Vision just like that in the back of the barn that's been sitting there for years. I don't know who has the title, but my son is looking for a ride, I messed with it about ten years ago, got it running but it ran like crap, so probably need to yank the carbs, clean and test the rest of the bike and get it running. Thanks for the idea.

The "vision" is gone from the stable, it has been replaced with a goofy fast KZ1100 "shafty", not to knock the zl in anyway, but I can honestly say that I would put this kz11 up against a zl in a dash, yea the zl may pull harder, but anything past a 1/4 mile I dont see one getting away from this.
Yes its ugly, yes there are dents, dings ect... and yes it holds a tick over 4.5 gals, and will flat bury the speedo in an instant........pound for pound, its a viable machine even if it is a real bastard model ~look them up 82-KZ1100 shaft~....trust me here fellas its a real "sleeper" ~sorry I havent been around much, comp issues, home issues, g-f issues <?....

Oh yea love them. I had a chain drive 1000,,,J model that year. Yes they are fast, cant keep the front end on the ground through first and second. That one being a shaft should react differently but be careful on them take offs, high center of gravity, lots of traction, fuckin hang on!
