ZL 400 items on ebay

I have a load of ZL400 bits that I'm getting rid of

:help: JUST REMOVED ROCKER BOX COVER FROM MY THOU AND WHITE OIL DON`T COME INTO IT ITS MORE LIKE SNOW,SO THAT WITH THE TOP END RATTLE,ANYONE THINK I MIGHT OF BOUGHT A PIL.THINK THIS IS GOING TO BE A COMPLETE REBUILD UNLESS SOMEONE CAN TALK ME OUT OF IT (PLEASE)GUTTED TO SAY THE LEAST,OH YEAH TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY MY XR400 HAS JUST EMPTIED A LITRE OF OIL ACCROSS THE GARAGE FLOOR FOR NO APPARENT REASON.PLEASE DON`T FEEL SORRY FOR ME I`M FEELING SORRY ENOUGH FOR MYSELF TO NEED IT :pale: ANDY
 
Try checking the water pump shaft seal on the ZL1K. They have a habit of dropping this seal out of the housing where it then slides inwards along the shaft towards the tranny. If it also has a leaky shaft "water" seal, this may be finding its way into the sump. Of course you should also see an oil/water leak emitting from the little drain hole between these two seals on the bottom side of the pumps housing (unless this hole is blocked).

XR400? Sorry, I have no experience, although this could be a similar problem with the gear selector shaft seal popping out of its housing and sliding out along the shaft and allowing oil to spill its guts were the source is not so easily recognised. Not sure of the integrity of the guy who passed these on to you but perhaps he’s deliberately tried to hide a couple of things. Sorry now I’ve gone and put my foot in it…
 
HEY YOU COULD BE RIGHT ABOUT THE INTEGRITY BIT BUT MY TRAIN OF THOUGHT IS WHAT GOE`S AROUND COMES AROUND AND IT`S JUST ANOTHER CHALLENGE(LIKE I NEED IT AT THE MOMENT)ZL COULD ALSO BE THE CRANKCASE BREATHER BLOCKED,NEVER LOOKED ANY FURTHER YET.SPAT MY DUMMY OUT OF THE PRAM AND WENT INTO THE HOUSE TO SULK :nonono: :nonono: THANKS FOR THE ADVISE WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED OF FINDINGS....ANDY
 
Sorry to hear you've found more troubles Andy, not sorry for you, sorry for the bikes.

Hopefully you'll have one of them at the Farmyard in a few weeks.

I am really sorry that the 1K is seeming to be cuasing you problems :pale:
But I hope its just a water / oil leak thats causing you trouble.

ONE DAY I`LL LEARN TO FINISH ONE PROJECT BEFORE STARTING ANOTHER(NO CHANCE OF THAT THIS MUST BE THE TENTH TIME I`VE DONE IT)BUT MUST GET TRIKE FINISHED FOR THE FARMYARD, I HOPE....ANDY :joker:
