vroc on tv

Did you see corbins ride on tonight on speedchannel? They had a segment on the Kawasaki Vulcan riders club meet. It was pretty cool. But I had to laugh. They kept talking about how fast their bikes were. Ha Ha. Ill match a 2000cc Vulcan Against a 900cc Eli ,anyday. They were purty, though.

Must have missed that but I am sure that it was good for a laugh. Vulcan and fast in the same conversation.
Miniking

They definitely do think their 6 cyl is fast... which it is not slow by cruiser standards but then again those are cruiser standards :D

I smoked a Vulcan once, guy was sitting next to me at a stoplight and he nailed the throttle on green. I wasn't expecting him to do it so I was about 3 lengths behind when I opened up the 900.... with a little bit of tail wag and she took off and blew past the Vulcan. He tried to keep up on the on ramp to the highway but the Eli was cornerning much better as well and then the accel to over 100+ he was gone

I have experience with a Vulcan because my brother owns a 2003 MeanStreak 1500. When I first got my Eli together we went for a nice little ride and on our way back on the parkway he decided to kick it and blow his little brother away. Well I guess you guys can guess what happened then. Needless to say he was quite shocked. The 1500 Vulcan Meanstreak is one of the fastest cruisers around, and he had been blowing away harleys and everything else for months.

One of the reasons the Vulcans are not as fast as they should be is because they have a rev limiter on them that won't let them wind out in 5th gear. At the time his would top at at around 110mph. After that day he decided he needed to dump some cash into his and has added a new chip, drag pipes, a hypercharger, and few other little tricks.

Just ANOTHER over priced underpowered cruiser. Fast for a cruiser still means slow compared to an ELI. Bring it on Vulcan boys. They have so much money tied up to even think it is fast that Ethan should finish the turbo on a budget and show them what it is really about.

Turbo on a budget... I don't know how much of a possibility that would be! I will hopefully be going to the junkyard next week to see if my turbo is still there...

Ok the budget is less than a brand new super fast vulcan. You are not very likely to finish it for just a couple of hundred bucks. With the cost of new bikes today you will have an Elli with way more style and tons more power. And some people still think that our 16+ year old bikes are new when they see them.

Vulcans

Guyz guyz guyz! These Vulcan owners are our brothers. We should only embarrass the enemy, you know, VMAXs & the others of that ilk. V-twins are a waste of our time. I agree with what was said about others when they see our Eliminators. They think they're new and haven't heard of them. It makes me all the prouder to be owning mine. It just goes to show you how timeless they are!

Fuelr
I agree that the v twins are a waste of out time as the only stock V twin that is worth its weight in cast aluminum from the factory as far as being quick is Italian(Ducati). But some of these cruiser riders need to learn"unless you can run with the big dogs, stay on the porch."
Miniking

V-Twins

Miniking,

Sometimes you just gotta shake your head & laugh. They're kind of a lost lot. They aren't all the way biker, and they can't go fast, aren't they suffering enough?

All right, all right. I give at least they are riding, and with a run of only three years of the big Eli's we can't all have one. Sometimes I forget that part untill I am looking to buy something for it.

I seem to have developed an oil leak at the O-ring on the gearshift selector shaft, but I have not been able to locate the O-ring on the parts diagrams for my bike (ZL1000). Does anyone know the part number for this O-ring, and could you describe the easiest way of changing it out.

Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks Mick

Hey Mick,
Check out the "oil leak, water pump" thread in this discussion area. Later.[/url]

Guys, are you sure this oil is coming from the water pump. The oil I am seeing is dripping from the gear shift change shaft, there looks to be an O-ring on the shaft or in the cover.

Thanks Mick

Mick
It should be an oil seal for that shift shaft, part number 92049-1017 OIL SEAL,SD-8187

I'm replacing all of my seals and O-rings in this area. I think I paid about a buck for one of these. If you have trouble locating one, let me know and I can get one for you. Since you will be in this area, you might want to replace the seal and the O-ring for the waterpump as well.

OK Guys, Thanks for the help. Got the seal from local dealer (part No 92051-005 oil seal, TB13225.5) Gently collapsed old seal around the shaft carefully removed it and slipped the new one in. Took about 25 minutes, looks like the problem is fixed for now. Now I am ready for my pre rego, "blue slip" inspection next week. Wish me luck, then I will be on the road legally. No more unregistered test spins.

Cheers Mick

Hi
I had that problem with my ZL1000, It was the water pump seal that was shot.
Good luck

I know its been some time. But what did you end up doing? Replace the seal or the whole water pump? I have a ZL1000 that is doing the same. Would you still happen to have the seal no.? Just got it back from the shop. I had them replaced the two O rings but I have a feeling it's the seal. New pump is 200 bucks, rather go with the seal.
