I haven't been around here long enough for anyone to "know" me or my writing style, so I'll make certain to say that my post is to be read with tongue firmly in cheek.
If you don't want to be lumped in with the "Fast & Furious" crowd, you've got to stop referring to it as NOS (NahhZ). N.O.S./Nitrous Oxide Systems is just ONE brand that makes N20 kits. Venom, Nitrous Express, Edelbrock, Compucar are example of other folks who sell nitrous kits.
Saying NOS is like saying Jell-O or Band-Aid. Sorry, as a N20 user, that's one of my pet peeves.
I've used nitrous for years in my cars. Hands down, there is no better bang for your buck. On a car, there's no cheaper way to get an extra 100 horsepower (and definitely way more). I originally had planned to purchase a supercharger for my car, but had to save a few years to get one. In the meantime, I picked up a $350 n2o system, installed it in a few hours and once I dropped the hammer I was hooked! The supercharger would've cost me around $4000 but @ $35 a fill for a 10-lb bottle, I could go through 1000 bottles before I spent that much money for the same amount of power!
Now nitrous is definitely not for everyone. Just like any other mod, you've got to plan for it and you've got to respect the power increase. A 25-35 shot on a bike is big - for most bikes that's a 25% increase in power at the flip of a microswitch. That's enough to pull most front wheels off the ground in any gear. The biggest shot I know of anyone running is a 75-shot on a ZX-12. He can't keep the front end down no matter what he does.
I personally haven't hit that threshold where I feel any bike I own needs nitrous, but I have to admit that I've got a fogger kit sitting on the shelf for when that day comes. If you've got the need for speed, nitrous is a whole lot of fun for not a whole lot of cash! But you've got to treat it with the proper respect or it'll bite you hard!
