Fork braces

Checked with the guy making them for the ZRX`s after seeing the anti-wheely
braces on Brian and Jeffs bike and says he can do,we need 30+ to
commit before they`re made.
$120 or less range depending on natural or powdercoated black.
They`re prolly 1/2 the weight of the one I saw on the bikes at M/O.

I could not get the pic to load so I have not seen. Is this a brace that goes across the top of the fork tubes at the front fender?

Unless I am missing something, why not keep the $$$ in our Eliminator family, and get a hold of member Rick Maker. He has made several braces in the past, and makes other custom items, per request, for our bikes.

Just a thought!

To put it bluntly,his braces suck.
They look like something from the 80s,they`re too heavy and look like crap and they cost more than the ones I`ve posted in the link.
Tell Rick it`s 2005 and to get with the program.
He`s getting way too much for those low-tech braces.
 
I got the pics and you can count me in for one! :D Real nice high quality unit, very impressive!
 
I'll take one also. I see the dude only lives 5 minutes away from me, thats a plus.
 
409 members and we cant come up with an order of 30 some?!? This is a nice limited piece that will enhance the bikes handling and looks. I have seen other fork braces for eli's and this one looks so much better. We will not have many new eli orientated items come along as this bike is old, so why not jump on this rare opportunity now? I mean $120 is a real buy on this so do not let it pass you by! 8O :D
 
That`s 4 so far,maybe you guys w/the brick brace could
list them on ebay and use the $ to buy this one. :lol:

Soooooo you basically said you don't like the LOOK and WEIGHT of Rick's brace, and said NOTHING of the performance!! You know, I would quit slamming people in the forum, especially when his craftmanship is bar none, and other custom pieces he can make, may be your next discontinued item!! So far, YOUR opinion is only cosmetic, and I am sure, would not be appreciated by Rick.

Up until now, there has been nothing easily available for our bikes other than the Super Brace, and the one Rick was making. You show no pics of this newer style on the site. Maybe you should do so, as you might get more responses. No matter what product you do use, $120 aint cheap either!

I`ve got that brace on both my ZRXs and am satisfied w/their performance as well as looks.
You like the brick brace?good for you but don`t slam an obviously
superior product you know nothing about or even bothered to look
into.
Craftsmanship you say? It`s about as low-tech as you can get
and it prolly costs less than $50 per to make and what`s he getting
$150?
If you wanna spend more $ for an inferior product why don`t you go

1. Tried to look at link, but had to become a member to view.

2. AGAIN, YOU are satisfied with the new product, and that is YOUR opinion!

3. I NEVER slammed your supposed superior product, just did not think it was fair for YOU to slam a member of the forum!

4. Craftmanship I speak of, is the quality and pride of the parts Rick makes. Go ahead, try and make just ONE of any of the Billet pieces he makes, and see how much you want for it when you are done with it! One I got was under $100.00 USD, and I know I couldn't make one myself for that. Just because they got more on Ebay, does not make Rick the bad guy, or a lesser person.

5. Yes, I happen to like the brace that Rick made (not saying it is the best, because better items always come in the market), AND REMEMBER, until now, his brace and the SuperBrace were the only ones available!! You ARE entitled to YOUR opinion, but just because YOU want either a brake or deal on a multi-order, doesn't mean you slam another person's product the way you did, OR shove it down members throats like in your posts!

Also remember that Rick made the brace, because members like you AND me at the time, were looking for for something better then the Super Brace. Just because there is something new out there, does NOT make his product a piece of crap, even if it is just heavier!!
 
I found Rick excellent to deal with, he couldn't have been more helpful in the dealings I've had with him. This includes sorting some MAJOR shipping problems with a tank and cap I got sent out here to Oz from him ... he went out of his way to ensure I was happy!!!

I got my fork brace through Rick and couldn't be happier either with the quality OR the price :D ... I managed to get a chromed one .. looks good with "Eliminator" embossed into the front of it sitting above the stock chrome front fender!!

As for the fork brace looking like something out of the 80's um derrrrrrrr so is/does the bike .. strange about that .. given it's an '87 model!!

Anyways, aside from that, as a mechanical fitter, I prefer the robustness of the full billet item as compared to the "lightweight" crosspiece on the ZRX multi-piece item.

At least I know with the billet item the lower fork legs are going to stay parallel and are highly unlikely to move independently of each other, even under the hardest of lateral cornering forces. Whereas, the ZRX item with it's thin cross-section joining piece and multiple attachment screws, could perhaps flex, possibly allowing independent movement of the lower fork legs in the vertical plane.

Just a "personal opinion", but to me the ZRX item is a semi-functional "cosmetic" addon, (which is all the go these days, goes with the neons and other assorted "bling") whereas Ricks' item is built robust to do a job .. and that it does .... admirably.

Ah well, as I said .. just my "personal semi-informed opinion" .. no doubt others might disagree but even so, given the minimal difference in price, (I paid $125 for my chromed item), there is little to be gained by bagging Rick who has done a lot of good stuff for us "Eliminator owners".

So what is the weight diff with these products and what is performance differences? Haven't seen Ricks' product but the Machs' product does look like a clean cut of a couple of pieces of alu. What kind of performance or really SAFETY are you going to see from either product? Safety is more of a concern from me. Don't fight guys as we are all just trying to keep the bike the best we can.[/code]

Being an expert "mechanical fitter"(whatever the hell that is)
you must know that the if ZRX brace was weak and flexing it would surely show stress cracks or signs of twisting in the anodizing or
around the screws.
I throw my ZRXs into corners much harder than the ZL with no signs
of defects after taking corners on the edge of the tyres almost
daily.
It`s not a weak brace,hundreds have been sold with not one complaint
from single member.
If you like the brick brace good for you,unlike Shlim1 I like a choice
rather than simply tossing someone money for an obviously inferior
mod just because he owns an Eli.
I`m sure he makes some other good stuff(that I`ve yet to see)
I don`t like the brick brace,if you like low-tech stuff fine,I don`t.
I was told by anther member he paid in the $150 range for his.
Half that would be a reasonable price for it.
Don`t like it,don`t buy it.
But don`t tell everyone here they should buy something from someone
just because they`re a member.
 
Got it down to 20+ @ $117.50 in anodized black, $3.00 less for brushed, bare alum.

Only 16 to go,c`mon guys lose the brick. :lol:

I think you better go back and read what has been written and YOU have written in this thread!! I simply stated the fact of keeping something "in-house", as opposed to another group, or outside company getting the $$$, with no persistance of what product is better. Again, until now, there has only been the Super Brace and Rick's brace. You have brought another product into the arena for us to look at as another option, which is GOOD, but, YOU are the one slamming the other party (Rick), just because the brace might be a little heavier, and possibly ugly in YOUR eyes! I'm sorry, but, I don't have any data or experience in designing a "better" fork brace, but can you REALLY say that YOU are a professional, and that Rick's product is the inferior one?? You state NOTHING in ANY of your posts in this thread, to back you up (other than your opinion of weight).

Basically, bringing a new item to everyones attention is, I am sure, MUCH appreciated!! But, not having common decency or respect of others, especially by slamming them the way YOU did, is uncalled for. My first post was a mere suggestion/reminder to others of Rick's item, and YOU took it from there!!

Remember, opinion's are like A**holes, everyones got one (including myself). Shoving YOUR personal opinion down everyones throat for personal gain is NOT the right thing to do!

If anyone, including you Mach, would like to see a few more of his creations (gas cap cover & Master covers), PM me with your e-mail address, and I will forward a pic. If the pics come back to this site, I had them there already too.
