Tristate area get together maybe?

Would any body be interested in getting together in the area of where Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa border? It sounds like maybe a couple may come around sometime this summer wondering if we should try and put something together even if there are just a few of us. It sounds like Wuputt may be coming through the area in early June. And I am still trying to convince Ethan to extend his vacation to make a tour of the area.

Like I have said, I am willing to drive (prefer to ride) to visit others who share my obsession. Nothin better than shootin the bull with Eli riders. At least ya'll can relate to ridin the most awesome machine on two wheels!

Joker, those Rally's I was tellin you about are in New Hampton Ia. The "Davis Rally"
The other is in Lake City MN. just north of Rochester on sr63 this is the raqlly sponsored by Kawasaki. Not sure on dates but if I find em I will let ya know.

No plans in concrete yet waiting for more input from others as to what you would like to do and such. Lots of places to stay in LaCrosse as well as a lot of places to party. I need to know what anybody would like to do besides ride. I cant make any plans yet as I dont know how many would be interested and when we could put it all together. LaCrosse would be a good place to do it but I would be open to suggestions, the closer the easier it would be for me to make some preparations. I would love to have a get together here as it seems there are a lot of members that are scattered evenly about the midwest.

Count me in, If anyone is coming from the east and wants to meet in the Milwaukee area and ride together let me know.
 
I will be coming through on I 90. Unfortunately I will be in the Dodge but I may bring the Eli along for the ride. (even tho she hates it!)
 
New to the Group

Hey guys, I am new to the group and live in the Milwaukee area.

There is a pretty fun gathering in the spring and fall called the Slimey Crud Run. It takes place on the first Sunday in May and October. It starts in Pine Bluff, WI (~10 west of Madison) and ends in Leland (35 miles NW of Pine Bluff).

The ride is organized by Peter Egan - a writer for Cycle World and maybe Road and Track living near Madison.

The SCR is word of mouth to minimize the H-D contribution. There are hundreds of bikes that show up (maybe even a thousand).

I have done the run for 5 years and have never seen another Eliminator. There are a lot of interesting new and old bikes that show up. For example, last year a WWII vintage BWM with side car and machine gun showed up towing two amunition casons and 88mm ack-ack gun. When I figure out how to post pictures I will upload some.

The town of Leland is pretty much of a police free zone so there is a lot of holiganism going on. There is a tradition of riding a wheelie out of town over the bridge.

This Sunday is the spring ride and we have a three day storm system moving in. Also, I am currently fixing an oil leak associated with the water pump drive and I am waiting for the pump o-ring seal to come in.

It looks like I will not be doing the spring SCR ride. I would like to get together with you guys this summer. A good ride is the river road between La Crosse and Galena, IL.

Welcome DR T, Glad to see more members in SE Wisconsin. The SCR sounds like a blast.
 
What would you guys want to do if we can get a date set? Other than a RIDE. Picnic, barrel party? Could you give me some ideas. There are a lot of parks and things around here and there are no shortage on taverns either so let me know.

The VROC Vulcan guys are having a get together in Boscobel Wi. June 17-20. It might be easier to tag along at their event, it is also an all Kawasaki event and it would be cool to crash it with a group of Eliminators. It is the 7th annual and they have some cheap motels listed at their web site.

I will be in Warrens Wisconsin that weekend and just may be able to make an appearance. THere is a Car show at Jellystone there that weekend and I could just drag the bike along as well. Ill check out some more of the details later today.

I checked on the distances and it is farther from warrens than I thought actually it is closer to me at home. If this is what you would like to do please let me know asap and maybe I could work around my other plans or cancel them as I would really like to be involved in putting together a meet up in this neck of the woods. If everyone is in for this I can try to get some more stuff together like a place to meet or I could distribute a cell phone number so you can get in contact with me but its only a month and a half out so we better get moving if this is what you guys would like to do. I dont think that the Vulcan guys would care if a few of us showed up at their meet but I will put a question into somebody with them just in case. I will keep you posted but we need to start making plans immediatly to get this together. Thanks

That is Fathers day weekend, maybe we could do our own thing at a later date. It would also leave more time to clear our schedules to get together.
Joker, if you could, check out local motels/campground in the area that are resonable and close to Entertainment(Bars/Food) so if we have too much fun we don't have far to go. We could all try to stay at the same place be it a motel or campground, I don't mind a good campout, but it is up to the group what we want to do. Lets get this thing going!!
 
I may have a line on a guy that will be making radiator surrounds for the ZL900 in stainless steel, these will be based on the stock surround, and should look sweet, I need to know if anyone else might be interested in this, I will get some pics when I get mine, but if I tell the guy I may have more people interested, he may be inclined to build a few extra...
I do not know if the 1000 takes the same item or if it is different...If it is the same, let me know if you want one for yours, my dad has been doing sheet metal for 35 years and says this guy is the best 'tin-bender' he has ever seen...Let me know, I will be taking my stock one to him today (12-9).

has anyone checked into, or actually traded the radiator for one that may have more options for shrouds?....... example: Vulcan,Vulcan classic, VTX, anything?.....
denniskirk, and Jpcycles have a plethora of shrouds avail for other bikes...
 
Well...It's not looking good, the tinner my dad had lined up for me fell through, but I am going to make up some plans for one in stainless and see what it looks like, I will have it made up in galvanized or something at first to keep the expense down, but, lemme see what I can do for style...I am SURE I can do better thatn that monstrosity on eBay...Let's see here...
