ZL600 gas mileage question

I have recently bought a 96 ZL600 but havent gotten the chance to ride it yet since part of the agreement with the dealer was that they would do some additional work to it first. Anyways, about what kind of gas mileage can i expect on this bike, all the parts on it are stock. Also i have heard that you arent supposed to run Premium through it because it could possibly burn up the valves is there any validity to this statement, thanks in advance for any help.

I get anywhere from 35 to 50 or so depending on how fast I go.

Mine is stage 3 jetted, with air pods.

I get around 40 to 42 right now with a jet kit and pods. Also have a windshield installed that cuts down on mpg's. I got 45 to 46 before all the mods. Furchin

just in case anyone cares, i have been keeping a close eye on the mileage for my bike now that i have started riding regularly. i get between 43-45 which seems pretty consistant with what other people are saying.

Does anyone have any suggestions for replacement silencers for zl400. Don't seem to be able to locate anything, even aftermarket silencers to suit seem to be scarce.

This is almost like the holy grail of the ZL world.

I don't think I've seen silencers for sale that would bolt straight on anywhere? Best bet is to make friends with a fabricator and get a set of cans off ebay. A little bit of metal bashing to make a link pipe and your away.

Take a look for holeshot, predator, D&D, Supertrapp. There is very little choice out there for most of the ZL's. Your bike can use exhausts made for the 600 but your going to need to tune the bike after.

If I need to change mine I'm going for a custom made set. £300 - £500 quid for downpipes and twin cans. Sounds a lot but try pricing up some of the off the shelf stuff ale:
