Mirrors

Can anyone tell me what size the mirror mount hole is on an 85 Eli? Is it 8 or 10 millimeters?

Thanks,

Shelby

10 millimeters is the correct size for your mirror mounts. You should have no problem getting stock replacements or any aftermarket mirrors that you want. Furchin

If my memory serves correctly (I'm not at home to confirm) I think one side is a left hand thread (to stop the mirror from unscrewing while in service). This is important because a lot of 10mm (and I assume 8mm) OEM mirrors are right hand thread on both sides.

Just a thought, didn't want to see you get caught out.

I`ve got black Ducati Monster mirrors mounted on my`85 900.

i fitted Vmax?aftermarket copies,Teardrop shaped chromies,
you have to buy 2lefts?.....or is it 2rights?..

anyway,,they look cool on the Elim'.... 8)

ive already removed the carbs and handlebar switches...I was trying to flush the brakes but the fluid has turned to a "wet brown sugar" ....its gonna take awhile to get it back on the road..ill keep everyone posted..like i said in the previous post..3600 miles on this baby...original 20 year old tires..and they still hold air

In the immortal words of Monty Python:

"You lucky, lucky bastard"

Congratulations on getting such a great example of a 1000.

Such a steal, but how does someone break every turn signal. I agree about keeping it stock, will be a lot easier to get it running and on the road. I don't know about the 1000 but there are tricks on getting the carbs on and off the 900.

I'll say !!!

...but there lies the crux of the deal, it's going to take alot of work to get it up to scratch, but at least you've got a good starting point, everything looks sound enough.

good on ya...

the signals are dry rotted...

Nice looking bike zl1000nyc !
With the cash you saved on buying your bike - you can make a really nice job of restoring her !
I have had similar dry rot on turn signal stem rubber !
I would get rid of the tires even though they hold air - they will have age hardened and may not be up to keeping you shiney side up :nonono:
Will look out for your updates on progress - take your time and get it right !
