Hi,

As some of you know, I just aquired my first ZL! I'm wondering about spare parts (or the lack of)...It's an '87 ZL1000 with 39,000 miles on it - is there any part(s) in particular that I should try to find now, as the parts is no longer made or difficult to find?

Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you,

FL

Yea, you could find me the plastic "front brake line cover" :D

I am not sure about the zl1k boots, I know the zl900 boots are discontinued tho.

Several parts that I have tried ordering that are discontinued on the zl1k, most are the emblems, hard to get any of them.

Best bet is to make up a parts list and go to your local stealership, they can look em up and tell you right off if they are available. Then you can shop for the best price in the "parts houses" If you order straight from the "parts house" you may end up having your credit card charged, only to find out later that they are not available!

WELL, here is a dumb question, but it just popped into my head ! :blackeye: will the 1k, & 900 carb boots interchange ????? if so, maybe connie boots will fit the 1k also !!!!! :detective: CHRIS :cool10:

Zedders would list it if they did fit. Problem with the zl900 is the boots need to have a slight angle to them to get the carbs directed down away from the frame and into the airbox. The zl900 boots(16065-1134) are discontinued. The zl1000 boots (16065-1146) who knows, lol.

Now the 2004 connie/zg1000 i'm looking at right now uses 16065-1112 carb holders, but shares the same damn cams, sprockets, and cylinder head. The zg uses the motor as a stressed member, so there has to be something different about the zg motor besides the trans gear ratio and the carbs/holders. I'm gonna have to check further into the trans ratios

The ZL900 and the connie are the same carbs so one would assume that they use the same rubbers. The ZL1000 has larger carbs and the difference is the internal diameter of the rubbers at the carb end. The internal diameter at the head end is the same.
I'm sure I have examples of both in my shed somewhere. I'll post some pics if I get time tomorrow.

I didn't call or email to see if they're in stock...but here's what I found:

Part Number Description Quantity Retail Sale Price Extended

16065-1146 HOLDER-CARBURETOR $23.10 $21.95 $21.95

Subtotal: $21.95

Good luck! I ordered from 2 different sources for the zl900 and found out days later they are discontinued.

AW shoot! Better start buying up the ebay cables! I thought you had a 600 KT, now I see why you were asking about the 600 cables!

I tried a cable from a 900 but it is about 2 1/2 - 3" short....the story of my life.

KK, willing to post that link for your connie?
