Exhaust......

I'm going to replace my exhaust this winter...I need opinions on what you guys have used and what kind of performance you have gotten out of your change....What about the F1??? is it still available?? This motor,in my opinion, has a lot of potential but needs to breath. Come on guys....tell me what you like and what you don't like!!!! I may even design my own...we'll see. I see many cans that could work and still look as cool as the factory....
gonzo..............

I used the Holeshots when I still had mine. The Holeshots, Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, 4 degree advancer and the K&N Pod filters. It really seemed to open it up. but that created a fuel starvation issue and then I replaced the Fuel Tap with one from Pingle and all was right with the world. Tons of power but not much for mileage if you know what I mean.

I have this squeeking/whining noise coming from my front wheel. Sounds like my grandpa's old rusted ass banana seat bike that has been left outside for 10 years. What could be causing this? Bad Wheel bearings?

Hardest thing about diagnosing this will be hanging the front end. Remove the front brake calipers/pads and spin wheel, noise still there? yes=check wheel bearings. no=check brakes

Are you hearing this noise when you are actually riding the bike or standing at the side spinning the wheel.

If its when you are riding it, the noise could be wheel bearings but could also be coming from your speedo. Easy to check though, just remove the speedo cable. The other possible causes are as Mark says, the brakes, or could be the speedo drive gears.

Hope this helps

wheel bearings

It is coming from the opposite side of the brakes. And when i apply the brakes it is still there. I would be able to do it, but have no way of getting the front wheel off the ground to do all the stuff. Might be the speedo. Di just unscrew the speedo cable and then test ride it?

Yeah, just unscrew the top end then take it for a run around the block. You should be able to tell almost straight away. You may have to tape the top end of the outer cable to something just to stop it falling down when you're riding though. (or take it off completely)

Wheel bearings are more of a rumble than a squeaking as they are quite large bearings. The speedo has quite small bearings in comparison.

BTW are you sure that your brake pads are OK?

brakes

Yes the pads are okay. They were replaced middle of last year. I just had my front tire changed about 100 miles ago. Im gonna unhook the speedo and take it for a ride.

now

I went for a quick ride with everything the same. Now that the bike is cooled off, the sqeeking is quieter now. Took the speedo cable out and it is still the same noise.

On the 400/600 if you're careful, you can put a jack under the right hand side footrest mount (remove the brake pedal as it crosses directly underneath the mount) and lift it just enough to lift the front wheel clear of the ground (only needs to be an inch or two). From that posistion it throws the bike slightly over to the left, balancing on the side stand. (NO ACROBATICS WHILE ITS ON THE JACK THOUGH).

Good luck

dealer

Might just take it to the dealer, let them mess around with it. If i had all the right stuff to do it i would. Thanks for your help.

Did you or a shop replace the front tire?. If it was a m/c shop I would look at the speedometer gear that sits at the axle. Just a guess but if the shop did not get the tabs aligned for driving the speedo gear that could possibly cause a whining noise.
