    Hi All.

So I have been working on swapping my starter clutch on my 87 ZL600 and I cant seem to get the hub nut off.
have it held with some holding pliers and have a 36mm socket on it.

Noticed it looks a bit bent out of shape. Any advice for a fairly new home mechanic?

Actually I use a clutch basket holder for this job: tmp_11079-s-l400(4)-1860399138.jpg
    It's a 'safety nut', you'll need a new one...

Use a 1/2" drive impact driver and it'll come right off. It's made that way so as to not come off during operation. You need to update the clutch finger washers and use the updated nut.

:hello: It's called a crimp nut. Like said before it is a one time use. Up grade to the ZG 1000 nut & 2 star sprung spring washers. I did this on my ZL 10.

old part with this nut and one spring is discontinued. You will only find the black nut (with shorter thread) and 2 springs. Use an impact gun to remove it and get some help to torque it to specs

So the ZL600 uses the updated nut and 2 spring washers like the bigger ZL's?

So since the nut has been update do I need to also get the 39130-1071 leaf spring as well?

And if so then do I need to order 2 since it is in 2 pieces or do they come together?
