Thanks. Yeah, crazy. But it sure looks like fun. It's amazing what you can find on google or yahoo if you have nothing better to do.

Hey, Carol, where in Maine? I have a sister-in-law who summers in Castine. My son and his grandmother are returning from there today. Real pretty up there. I'll bet it's great for riding.
 
LETS SEE IF WE CAN GET SOME INTEREST(IT`S A BIT QUIET) :ignore: MY FIRST EVER RIDE WAS A SUZUKI 120IN ABOUT 1979THE FIRST BIKE I OWNED WAS A DT175 IN ABOUT 1984 THE FIRST ROAD LEGAL BIKE INC.AGE LEGAL WAS A RD 50 IN 1985 AT THE AGE OF 16 MEMORIES AH!!!! FAVOURITE BIKE OWNED WAS MY BLACKBIRD AND HOPING FOR A ROCKET 111 FOR MY NEXT BIKE. :D :cool10: ANDY
 
My first ride was on a race only Yamaha 750, it was crazy fast, no gauges, no lights, no speedlimits!!!!!
My first bike I owned was a 650 Maxim, I have had 2- 1985 750 Magnas, 1 84 750 Sabre, and a 95 YZF600, and a short and much regretted stint on a 1200 Sportster (I can't figure out why they named those bikes that) but the ZL is my one true ride...

First ride was when I used to pinch my sisters Raleigh Runabout in the evening after she had gone out with her mates. She always said that it didn't seem to go very far on a tank full of petrol :rotf:

My first 'legal' bike was a 1974 Honda SS50 like this one (showing my age now). There were 2 of us with SS50's another couple with Yammie FS1E's and "Gary the Garelli". Aaahhh good times

Wow, being in the motorcycle business for the past 11 years I've had many bikes. My first ride and purchase was an 82 Yamaha Seca 650 Turbo, then on to a stream of cafe racer sport bikes. Then I bought my 1st Eliminator 900. Loved it!! Wound up sellling it for needed cash and always wanted another one.The most underestimated bike I know. I love that most people don't even know what it is!! I currently have a Yamaha Warrior Chopper Drag bike, an 86 Suzuki GSXR1100 Wahoo!!!, and of course my Eli 900.... life is good.
 
Wow! This stirred up some memories. My earliest foray into motorized two wheel transportation was around 1965. I was maybe 6 years old. It was a home made mini bike with a 3 HP Briggs & Stratton. I did what most people do the first time they open the throttle. I froze with it WFO! I clipped the corner of the house with my left hand then went straight through the back fence! The old lady tending her garden in the next yard told me to get the hell out of her tomatoes! :puttside:

My first experience was a DOA honda 70. I had been pestering my dad for ages that I wanted a scrambler... one fine saturday my dad came home with this thing in the back of a trailer. I was gutted, I had visions of a TS100 or something cool, but... I got a bloody honda 70.... with a blown engine... WTF...

It sat in the corner of his workshop for a few weeks until one day he dragged me away from the TV and into his workshop, put a spanner in my hand and said, "come on, lets get this going"...

2 weeks later, we fired her up and I was exhillerated that "I" was able to fix an engine!!! with a little help from my dad...wink.. I can remember vividly, every day we were working on the bike and the things we did to fix it... that was nearly 30 years ago, I can remember it like it was yesterday.
That was it, the bug hit and I had a serious interest in all things mechanical since... I hope to do the same with my son when he comes of age...

For those of you that dont know what a honda 70 looks like, heres a pic... (mine was blue and this is a 90 but you get the idea) it sure aint no scrambler... But I got years out of mine, driving through fields and country dirt roads...

Hmmm my first ride, that brings back memories. She was a friend of my sisters... oh you mean bike...lol That was my older sisters bike many moons ago when i was a wee lad, she went out giving me strict instructions not to touch her bike, of course as soon as she was gone i found the keys he he he. I just wanted to do a few laps of our backyard, back in the days when houses where on 1/4 acre blocks and there was room to do these things without having to go on the street. Of course not having ridden a bike before i had no idea what to do let alone expect. I managed to start it gave it a few revs and released the clutch and proceeded flat out into a stand of trees on the other side of the yard, luckily video cameras weren't invented yet. I shakily parked the bike and put the keys back, that was my first ride and spill on a bike all in one go.
 
My first bike was a 2001 Gilera DNA 50. 50cc and restricted to 35mph, although I used to manage 40-45mph on it:

Mine was black though and I had it for a year.

Then I went on to a red and black 1998 Yamaha XV125 Virago when I passed my test and had it 2 years:

I didn't have the saddlebags though, thankfully.

Then I went on to my 2002 Kawasaki ZX-6R ninja 636cc, Had that for nearly a year and a half, you all know what happened to that one:

And once my shoulder healed enough for me to reach the handlebars without having to move it there with my right hand, I got the ZL900.
 
My first ride was on the back of my first bike. My Uncle had a Bridgestone 50 that got ridden about once a year, for about 20 min. I constantly begged him to sell it to me and he finally gave in! I bought the bike for $50, it was 4 or 5 years old, had a couple thousand miles on it and I absolutely drooled over the chrome gas tank! I was 9 or 10 at the time.

I graduated to a Bridgestone 90 after two years and my Father getting pissed up one day and wrecking my 50. (turned the motor into a go-cart)
I built a "mini chopper" with a 5hp. Briggs motor.
Turned a old Schwin bicycle into a moped of sorts with a Maytag washer motor mounted on the front wheel.

I've pretty much been obsessed with motors my whole life!

I'm seriously tempted by the new ZX-6R. They're offering 0% finance on it as well.... I WANT ONE!!!!

First ride - on the pillion of my dad's C70 Honda step through.
First bike Honda SS50 ZB2 - like KK's but with a disk brake on the front (wow!).
Then my first Kawasaki a KH250 B2 in Blue (1978).
Destroyed the above so had to get a cheap Suzuki TS185ERN to get about on.
Back to Kawasaki with a Z750LTD (4cyl not twin!).
Now have two 750 Kawasakis (non runners to tinker with) and two ZL1000's which I hope to get roadworthy soon!
 
hey lumi i know what u mean i have a xr400 at the minute and i`m probably going to break every bone in my body with it(fun though) andy :joker:
 
First ride was on the back of my uncle's Magna before I was a teenager - no idea what year or size it was. Went to riding the dirt bikes of buddies as I got a little older. Got my first bike when I was 18, used and in bad shape of course - 1985 Kawasaki KLR 250 dual sport, then moved to a 1988 Yamaha FZR Genesis 1000, traded it for my first Eliminator - which had been rode hard and put away wet - what a lemon - didn't know enough about working on bikes to keep it and fix it up - found another Eli at the dealer, traded one Eli for the other and I've still got it today - some 15 or so years later. Had a bunch of other "second" or "work" bikes in between, dirt bikes too. I've owned a KDX 200 or 220 of one year or the other since I got rid of the KLR. A couple of 4 wheelers too - Honda EX 300's, etc. Currently have a Yamaha Timberwolf that needs a ton of work, a 2001 KDX 220 that I've barely ridden (due to no free time anymore now that I'm on the day shift at work, day shift sucks) - soon to be traded in on a KLR650, and my 85 zl900. 94 zx - 9, 95 GSXR1100, ninja 600, cr250, yz125, and several others - I've got the memory of a tree stump these days - hahaha. Good topic, interesting reading.
 
My first ride was on a Rupp Roadster in 1975 (mini) with a 6hp Brigs and Stratton thumper, it was a tourqe converter so it realy took off and topped out at a brisk 25mph. However I did not have a choice as to weather or not I wanted to ride. My wonderful older brothers said and I quote, Ride or yer gittin a beatin! Nice guy's huh? I'm sure you can feel the love.
My first bike was a 1976 Kawasaki KE125 enduro that I bought used in 82, it had some back rim issues so I put a back rim from a spaghetti Hardley Ableson SS350 Sprint on it. Due to the fact that it had about 8 less teeth on the sprocket and I had to alter the chain and a couple of bushings, it had no low end at all but it was quite fun when you got up to the powerband and were going 80mph.
Ah yes, I remember it like it was yesterday.

First rides,, of course the honda 50, then the honda sl 70. The following one was the most interesting, similiar to this one it was a Montgomery wards riverside 125cc 2 stroke made by benelli
