Tips on selling a ZL1000

ZL 600 Airbox Removal

I just removed the ugly airbox. Gonna jet the carbs and add PODS tomorrow. Along with installing a bracket I made to hold the battery assembly as it will now rattle with no airbox. And the body piece to cover the blank space in front of the air filter box. And the bracket to connet the pods.

On the Crankcase vent pipe and at the bottom of the airbox and the top hose to the heads, I was gonna run hoses to hook them together to keep the vacumm and to keep dirt outta the case.

Anyone see a problem with that. She ran with the hoses not hooked up when I removed the box and started it. Actually ran good, 'cept the loud noise coming from the top hose.

There was not really much vacumm pressure.
 
Michael, if you are talking about hooking the crank case vent to the vent tubes coming out of the head, DON'T DO IT!!!! Both the crankcase vent and the emissions tubes coming from the heads ran to the airbox to re-feed back into the carbs to burn off gasses. You will not be maintaining a vacuum in the crankcase at all, you may actually pressurize it a bit hooking it up like that. Best bet is to seal off the holes in the reed valve covers in the head and get a crankcase vent filter to attach to the crankcase to vent it properly.

Here's what I did today.

On the crankcase I installed a hose and filter and ran it next to the filter box under the battery it get air but is unseen.

On the vents I installed a plug at the end of the hose.

Finished jetting and adding the PODS rode her and she screams. Purrs at idle and runs like a top so I did something right.

Am using stage 3 jets. No leaks, no vibrations no filters falling off. So all in all a good day. A little cold for a long ride but rode it around for 30 minutes and doing fine.

I have a ZL1000 I'm looking to sell and was wondering if you had any tips on the best way to go about it. I've tried some local classifieds and Craigslist, but most people seem to think it's just an old cruiser bike and wouldn't pay more than $1000 for it. I know it's a fairly rare bike and I loved it, so I want to get fair value for it and want it to go to someone who loves this bike.
 
Get some pics and put it in the classified here. I was in the market for one until recent.

I'll be more than happy to help you get it posted here.
 
I'll take some pics of it and post it here when I get the chance. It's still cold here in Boston and the bike is in a storage shed in my backyard. There's a little ramp into the shed, which means I can push the bike out, but can't push it back in and of course I need a battery...... so when the weather warms up, I'll take it out, get some pics, and post. Thanks for the help.
