need advise

I have been looking at pic with and without the rear bar. What does everyone think, keep the bar or no bar, also how do you find the sport bike rearends that bolt on.
 
I personally like the stock look, after all, that is what I fell in love with 19 years ago!

My guess would be that if you want a sport bike tail section you better be ready to build some brackets!
 
Hey 400, Like Wuputt said Be ready to Spend Some Bucks. Pics of the Bikes on this Site are all European, Where theres a Streetfighter Shop every Block, So Cuting and Modifing are Second Nature to theese Guys, But Hey its YOUR BIKE, You can do whatever you want to it :D , Later Rocky :twisted:
 
I have to admit that i do like the look without the rear bar, but i have no intentions of doing any mods to mine that can't easily be undone. Would like to see pics if you go through with it.

I was interested in the look without the rear bar as well, that's when Rocky hooked me up with a guy in New Hampshire (Rick Maker). He made me 2 new fender struts out of billet aluminum and a billet wedge with "Eliminator" engraved on it to replace the light for the license plate. I removed the rear seat and rear pegs, and put a sidemount license plate on the bike, and I love it. The best thing about this set up is that it can all be reversed. I have to say Rick's craftmanship is excellent, I was very pleased when I opened the box,everything was polished and wrapped, ready to bolt onto the bike. I don't have a digital camera, but I will borrow a friends camera phone and see if I can get some pics on here by the weekend (I deleted the ones I sent back to Rick).It just occured to me that I hope this was the "bar" you are talking about. :oops:

I remember the first time I seen an Eliminator, it was 19 years ago (like Wuputt said). There are not too many moments in my life where a first impression has left such an unfaded mark on my memory. I feel that I am in a priviledged situation to own a rare and exotic piece of motorcycle history. I fully respect the right of "to each his own" but , I like the bike stock. Just MY opinion, everyone has one. Thanks,

Grab Bar

Well I guess that Im on the other side of the card here. I have never owned anything that I could leave alone (ie the way it came from the factory.). Its your bike do whatever YOU want to do with it. Although with the rarity of these machines you might want to think about doing things that are easily reversable. In my opinion you should make the bike your own with whatever mods you want, but keep in mind the effect it might have on the resale value if they are permanent mods!

I agree but when ya get one that`s too far gone to restore at
a reasonable cost and outcome you`ve got to mod-it. :D
 
Still torn so I am going to machine some brackets and a plate holder and I will post them to see how it looks.
 
As promised, crappy quality pics posted of my bike WITHOUT the grab bar. I have to agree with ya Joker. You always have to keep in mind that the next guy that owns what you have might not like your style, although, I would never sell her anyway. :)

Well if its something your willing to keep forever then thats fine if its something you may need to part with someday its a consideration. Thats just the way that people are, so many different tastes and the Eliminators arent exactly cheap to buy or modify. The only bikes that seem to be worth more customized are the Harleys. Thats just the way it is. I would modify it to whatever I wanted but thats just the way I am with all my toys.

Just saw the no Grab bar pics that is perfect just what I was looking for. thnaks for posting them. The only difference I am doing is I got an extra rear fender that has had the plate lamp removed and fiberglassed in like it was never there. 8)
 
Here is a pic of another bike without a grab bar, looks like he made the struts just long enough to mount the turn signals and shocks. It is a really nice looking bike.

As far as your question about the sportbike tail section, I posted that question on here some time ago, and the reply was that the tail came off a Ducati. I looked on ebay at Ducati's for awhile, but couldn't figure out which model it came off of, and the ones that were on there were big bucks.
 
I like to get on my bike and go on a few long trips here and there, and after seeing Jarney's pics with the grab bar, I thought it would be the best of both worlds to have one made just a bit taller and is removable. That way when I decide to take a long trip I can bolt it back on and mount a rear bar bag to it.
 
No Grab Bar

Take a look at Siberian's Tail end, in the Owner's gallery.
That Aprillia tail section is hot. The ZX9 upside down front end is sweet too.
Doesn't look much like a ZL9 anymore though.
The Eliminator is the look I'm going for and fell in love with though.
I guess if I wanted a modern look, I should buy a modern bike, Like a Z1000.
Seems a same to chop up a classic, eh!
 
...... Get a couple of rattle cans to respray my painted front mudguard or should I take it to a paint shop and pay a guy to respray it for me... I tried to polish off some of the rust spots on the guard but there are some areas that it just looks horrible, especially where my front leather tool bag would touch the mudguard when the forks bottomed out (since raised)
Black is black right, I could get a rattle can for a few euros or pay €50+ to get it painted with 2 pack by a pro...

What would you do?

I have yet to see a spray bomb look as well as a professional job. have it done. Black is common and cheap. best of all it matches every time :D
 
Hell, paint it with a can of black, either gloss or flat, whatever matches the rest of your bike the best. If it's gloss, then you can get pretty close with a can for just ONE part.

If you're wanting a professional job, then paint ALL parts with the same color and have it sprayed. It really doesn't matter as it's more of a factor of if you have the money or not to get a PRO job or can live with something that is pretty close and still looks good.

The end result is that it's your bike, MAKE A decision for yourself. Hell, you could paint the bloody thing with a can and if you don't like it, then get a PRO to do it for you but then he is only painting ONE part. :stir:
