In my area there is a gas station that has vp racing fuel at the pump. I tried it out the other day, seems like it added some power and made run a little smother. my bike is slighty modified.I have currently installed a jet kit, pod filters, 4d timing advancer, and nology hot wires. The fuel I loaded up is a 100 oct. oxygenated product. I was wondering what some of the zl nuts out there think about this.

both the vp and the nology website claim that it may be possible to use larger jets with thier products. I was considering taking the bike in loaded up with vp and having it rejetted and dyno tested.

Has any one else tried this, what do you guys think??????

Oxygenated fuels is nothing more than adding ethanol to the gas, usually about 10%. There is less energy available in ethanol than in gasoline so you loose some power there. And the 100 octane rating just means that the fuel can stand more compression and heat before detonation which is better for high compression engines or running an engine with boost. Did it help? Maybe some. Could also have a placebo affect. Web sites can claim anything they want to sell a product.

Where I live In central IL.,the local citgo sells turbo blue race gas.It is supposed to be off road only. But you know how that goes.It is 113 octain and is leaded. Also alittle pricey at $6.00 per gal.(normal gas is $3.00 for 92oct).It makes my 85 900 pick up a full tenth at the local drag strip. If it is cool outside it does a little better than that.It does seem to make it run a little cooler also.A freind of mine who is big into braket racing (cars not bikes),buys his fuel from the local air port.Just ask for 100LL aviation fuel. It is 100 octain. There is no road tax on it so the price is about $4.00 per gal. They make you put it in a gas can. They will not pump it into a car or bike. But when you only hold 2 1/2 gal who cares.I have tryed this too,and I get the same resualts as with 113oct race gas.
This will give something to do on a dull day.

Octane only works up too a point where detonation stops, from there it is not useful. The fuel you may be referring too might be higher quality in htat the fuel molecules may be smaller or more equal in size there for more consistant. Which will burn better 1 large droplet or several smaller ones? Ethanol like its brother methanol does have a smaller BTU rating than gas but it cools the mixture thereby making it denser therby making a bigger bang. Denser mixture= more o2= bigger boom. Now at 10% I'm not sure how much effect that will have. It is possible that the effects you are claiming could be accurate. Octane is only 1 measure by which to rate fuel.

:yeahthat: I rate fuel on how well it starts a bonfire! :rotf:
