ZL1000 Eliminator

Hi,
My friend has a 87' ZL1000 Eliminator his throttle cable broke. He went to the dealership and they said that part was no longer available. I was wondering if there is another site where he can purchase this. Maybe their is some sort of cross reference part? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

Yep .. the part number 54012-1307 - throttle cable - pull/open has been superceded. Hence it shows up as N.L.A. - No Longer Available.

I struck the same situation about 12 months ago when looking for one myself. Will have a look through my bits/info today and get back to ya with the updated part number etc.

From memory I think the cable p/n: 54012-1308 also came back as N.L.A. from Bike Bandit. They had/could get, the "close" cable but not the open.

The one I've got here is a genuine Kawa part but it's number is 54012-1310.

I got it through my local Kawa dealer who said that's what the old part number was superceded to.

The only diffrence is that the adjusting collar/nut on this one is plastic rather than metal as on the original.

HTH :D

ill ask my bud
'George' in Japan,
he wheels&deals mostly in Z stuff,
If i do any good Ill put Info up here!,
hes a top bloke&prompt with sending parts etc...

I bought a pair in August 2004, like Rossco said, the adjuster is plastic in lieu of steel but they work fine. The problem I now have is I want to swap the RH switch block to match the LH (late model GPz press to cancel indicators) but the ZL’s cables don’t fit  and I don’t want to chuck ‘em ‘cause they’re so new. So, I’m trying so hard to wear ‘em out 8) Perhaps you might consider changing your switch blocks and then buying cables to suit (cables more readily available).

Here’s the ZL1K cable numbers:

Cable, Throttle Accelerate 54012-1310 $45.80
Cable, Throttle Decelerate 54012-1308 $52.40

Rossco, you're spot on with the numbers.

Hey ZLRX,
just watched your burnout - nice :D
Sounds wicked too.
I have got my ZRX1100 barrells and pistons and ZZR cams - with a 1100E cylinder head, so hope to do the mod sometime soon :dancingfool:
Vin

very nice, I like the way it grabs sometimes when doin the burnout as seen in your video, it will jerk a knot in your tail, lol
