ZL1000 Sump Pan Alternates
Hey Guys,
The donk I acquired from Crusty was beautiful if it weren’t for a hole punched in the side and the temp sensor ripped out during its last seconds of life. I took the damaged sump pan and went for a ride on my ZZR250 to collect a GPZ900 sump from a wrecker thinking it would be the same but alas, same it was not. The ZL sump pan is cast higher at the forward end to accommodate sufficient exhaust clearance. The GPZs also has two additional holes for its oil cooler which is not required for mine (although
). The interface appears to be identical but my dealer advises that the gaskets also have a different pat number. He couldn’t say why as he didn’t have each in stock to compare the differences.
I left it with them because I thought I may have difficulty were the ZLs exhaust balance pipe crosses under the engine (I wasn’t sure if it went in front of or under the pan). Anyway when I got home to look at my velocipede, my grief was set
. Now I can’t get a replacement sump to fit, or can I?
Can any of you advise what model Kawasaki has a sump pan that’s interchangeable with the ZL1000 (without interfering with the stock ZL exhaust)?
If there are no alternates for my/our ZLs, does anyone have a stray sump pan in serviceable and undamaged condition (paint is of no consequence)? The wrecker was going to make money out of my so why not you guys, hey, perhaps I have something to swap
.
I’d like to complete the spare engine because I think I may need it before 06Dec04. Very much looking forward to your replies…
