Back on board and another rear tyre

High guys,
It’s been a while and it’s great to see the spam crap gone. I have invested a considerable amount of time on this board and to be honest I really didn't feel like committing another 325 posts to another site (no offence to those from zl-oa browsing here, yep you caught me out). I’ll be posting to both boards when I can so I don’t offend either side. Anyway, Kera has been great to me so I’d like to return the favour to all the faithfull and share a bit with those who’ve moved on. I'll try to ramp up my contributions on this site again now there's more likely to be the right type of audience, no hackers.

Oh, and the beast is registered for another year of commuting/touring. Third year and third rear tyre, this time I'm trying a Maxxis M6011 (160/80-15) for some variety, we'll see how long this one lasts. What sort of mileage are you fellas getting from your donuts? Here's my experience thus far:

160/80-15 Dunlop D404 = 12,443 (15mths, bald but no reinforcing plys exposed)
160/80-15 Bridgestone Exedra G702 = 9,450km (11mths, all the way to the plys)
160/80-15 Maxxis M6011 = ???

Hi Rocket

Glad you're back. I don't think there's a problem with coming over to the 'dark side'. I see both sites as a real contribution to the Eliminator cause and both have their parts to play.

Good luck with the tyre, let us know how you get on. I've usually had the Dunlop standard fitment but I hear that they are no longer making our size as only a couple of bikes use it.

Welcome back

KK

Welcome back Rocket,
yep - there are a few from the dark side over hearew as well ! :D
I also use theZRXOC site - as I am using some of the ZRX1100 to uprate / modify my ZL 1K.
Nice to have someone of your experience back :D
Vin
PS Thanks again to Rossco for clearing out the garbage. :D :D

Rocket, I have yet to get 5000 miles out of a rear tire. I can't understand why they burn off so fast?

I too am a user of both sites, although i have invested a lot of time here, my loyalties hold stronger for the udder one!

I guess it has to do with bucket loads of torque going through a small footprint while trying to push 240kg in a straight line. The last bit is the killer, a sports bike shares its wear across the tread whereas the ZLs cop up the guts (middle) of tyre more often than not. I suspect there's not many, if any, of us who can say we toss a tyre with the sides just as bald as the centre.

My KERA Posts: 332
My ZL-OA Posts: 51

You can see where my investment is. I hope it never happens but before the KERA site folds, I'm going to collect all my posts and back 'em up on my pc.

Good idea Rocket .. I'm gettin' well and truly sick of trying to keep up with the spammers!!!

Just under 200 new members in the last month .. no doubt 99.95% of them with evil intentions!!! I've just cleaned out 16 spam posts in the last 24 hours and the daily count is growing exponentially. I copy and paste crucial data from each spam post to a text file, in case there's any repercussions .. a time consuming task.

I sent Ethan info about a hack/mod that can be installed on the board to virtually stop the spam but it still keeps coming. Also, I've started running an identical format forum for my local Ulysses branch. I see there is an option in the board configuration which keeps new accounts inactive until an Admin or Moderator physically activates it. Seems like a very simple fix but it also hasn't been implemented :? :?

It would be great if those mods you suggested were implemented to keep the spammers at bay :D
I keep getting emails to say that there has been a post at KERA - frequently to find its crap - not a complaint guys - I'm sure we're all greatful that this site is still up and running :D
The more Eli fans we get on board the better for all of us.
:D
Thanks again Rossco - I know it must be a real pain clearing things up only to see the shits at it again
