Hmm......Mine is a UK spec bike and looks to be a mixture of those 2
Carbs are plain aluminium with chrome tops
Higher sissy bar & backrest
Car type horns with (very elusive) chrome covers
Also .....not visible.... Uk bike does not have ....
Reserve lighting device
Running lights to front
Emissions crap
I'm sure there's more but I haven't studied the pics closley

- lower handle bar - other mirrors
- different serial number on the mufflers, same SANKEI number
- different colours
- all models had H4 headlamps
- some differences in electrical functions and wiring
- different speedometer, no mph
- as mentioned no emisson control with different valve cover.
The 1988 models got other colours, some improvements, among these was the reinforced brackets/welding on the gas tank mounts.

Seems like a small thing, but the black carbs look so much better on the ZL1000.

UK model has a switch to turn the Lights ON, Park or OFF on the right handlebar (brake) side of the bars.
US models have the lights come on after starter motor has been used.
UK fuse box has different part number.
UK headlight has a 4Watt pilot light in it and dips to the left.

No problem mate.
The UK fronts only have two wires - as they are on used for indication an intention to turn - and are not used as running lights.
The rear ones are mounted on the rear fender and not on the pasenger grab rails - this means that the screw threads are a bit shorter and wont mount on the rails.
