Re: ZRX Fork Brace

Length is easily changed by the pipe work that would connect to stock exhaust parts. Diameter is smaller. I belive that mark and Jon (ufo) discussed this and it is possible to fabricate a muffler that more closely aproximates the diameter of the stock muffler.

as for me... like I said, looks realy good live and in person, I dont think the picture fully does it justice. Ill see what I can do to get something better posted for you guys to look at. Another option may be to have two mufflers per side for some extra beefy sound and look.

as far as filling the space.... what is currently available that fills this space better than what is in the picture??????? All other exhusts produced that Im aware of look like a square peg sticking out of a round hole to me ! These follow the countours and fit the space much better than anything else I am aware of..

Re: ZRX Fork Brace

I don't think that looks as bad as I though it would. Keep in mind paul, that is a vmax exhaust not intended for the zl. The diameter is a problem but the length is not as much of a problem and easily made longer. It's the larger diameter stainless thats gonna cost. Bacchus, how about another pic with more of the bike in view........PLEASE!

Re: ZRX Fork Brace

I like the look! I like that much more than any other options we have! I bet they will sound bad as heck too! Better stock up on ear plugs! :D

Re: ZRX Fork Brace

Ok, Ill get some more pic's up here.... with more of the bike in the shot.. my ZL9 is not going to make them look pretier in its current state !! but more bike NP. another thing that cannot be photographed properly is the opportunity to make adjustments to the angle of the pipe. I tried to get a shot in stock like positioning, however I think an adjusted angle looks more agreessive and cooler. Also, just looks wierd with someone in the picture holding the parts up....

here ya go !!!

The way these are baffeled ear plugs may be in order... a street pack option may be desireable

personally, based I what Im seeing in my garage... Im ready to order !

Re: ZRX Fork Brace

NOT BAD !!!!, but i think i'm gonna stick to my 4-1 for now ! CHRIS

Today I had a visit with Jon Cornell of UFO Performance Products. We talked about the demand for an exhaust for our bike and decided we should start with a slip-on system eliminating the power chamber.

We need at this point some more input on the design. I prefer the stock look slash cut and size, but I think a smaller slash cut that fit the foot peg holders nicely would look good as well. So let's hear some more input!

I need to add: I'm sure there are a number of you that have original exhausts that are damaged and you don't care for the look or fit of current systems available, so you just suffer the damage! I'm hoping to find a nice new replacement besides some of the 22 yr old junk we see on Ebay!
I think Mark is right on about a slightly smaller than stock can that fits the foot peg well. The pic Bracchus has the link to from UFO look about right.

bacchus,, I like the look but<<< there's always that! The stock exhaust looks better on our bike than anything.......Period!

So if there is a slip-on system made it will have to look stock, flow better and eliminate the PC. If i'm spending $$$ it better look better, and perform better than what I already have.

I like it,but in black.
I think the reason 95% of the stock cans have scrapes
in them are that they are too wide.
I tend to scrape things on the road in corners so I don`t mind
them being a little smaller.
Also if you`re using aftermarket exhaust it tends to look better
if you P-coat the rear peg brackets black.

I like the standard silencers the best - part of the reason I like the overall look of the Eliminator.
Having said that...you try getting some !?
So, as an alternative, a slip on muffler like in the last photo, using the standard box, looks and sounds pretty cool to me and I would have a set.

Ok,, have read most of this thread and here is my input. I only used Yosh "race only" pipes on all of my gsxrs back when I used to ride. Our bikes are low end and quarter mile drag bikes, so we want to retain or improve on LOW END power, where as most aftermarket exhausts help with top end. Bigger downtubes will help the guys with motor or carb work and you can help that by what Yosh used to call the "duplex" system that had a canister that kept exhaust gases loaded in the pipes, so back pressure was constant.
We also want to have plenty of R&D, so as not to have a pipe that may look good and performs OK, but we don't have enough DATA, to make it easy to put these systems on our bikes ourselves and not have a TON of "guess work" on jetting and can get all of the HP out of the setup.
I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but the return on investment for UFO may not be worth it??

I would like to vote for all black as an option(I hate chrome) and I LOVE noise!

We have to realize that todays technology is alot better than when OUR bikes were manufactured. I think we can get what we want(for everyone) if we can find a company that is dedicated to keep a LEGEND alive and spending the time to fully research power gains and customer opinions on looks.

I have been online for 2 hours trying to find options for exhaust and there are really just two that I have found and they come from this website.

If we could get a commitment from UFO on price, looks and the proper R&D and then just do a numerical poll to see how many he could sell, that would make it easier for him to make a decision.

Just my 2 cents:biggrin:

Has this dream died? Hope not.
I like the muffler that bacchus was holding up in the pics. Looking completely stock is not an issue to me personally.
4-2 definitely, filter access, ground clearance, etc.
Need a complete system (headpipes + mufflers). The remaining OEM headpipes won't last forever.
Packing options/rebuildable.
Chrome and black options.
As for the price - Holeshot was charging around $500 for slip-ons and we bought them. You know a complete system will cost more, esp. considering UFO is a small outfit.

I'm new to this site, but have been looking for exhust since I put a stage three k&n jet kit in. I've got cobra slip ons on it for now, but would love to have headers or some kind of custom exhust.
I agree with two into one with maybe a cross over below.

yesssssssssss 4 into 2 slash cut or turned out like the big radius pipes (vance and Hines) for harley ,slip ons that bolt up to header pipe under bike bypass collector box and out. should be cost efficient using stock headers where there is no problems....JOe

i think this dream is dying, just like the fork braces ! cost, & commitments ! people started out excited about these possibilities, but the interests just seemed to have faded away ! CHRIS

Maybe interest in making them faded but interests in buying some if made didn't. Seems no one has produced pic's or even drawings of aforementioned fork braces, but the pipes have interest and pic's but manufacturer's lacking time and or willing to take on this project to begin with because most of us want to keep the costs down where as manufacturer's such as UFO want to hear "Oh yes make them what ever the cost we will pay it, we will buy 10 systems each! " when most of us here live in the real world. lol
