good day, new to the zl900 community. always loved these bikes and was able to purchase this bike with 22k on bike..she had been stored over 10 yrs..was not running but all the pieces were there minus 1 airbox side cover...did a comp test...150 comp on #1#2#4 and 40 on#4.
readjusted valves to specs..did comp test again...190 on all 4 cyl. was happy to see that..rebuilt the carbs , rebuilt water pump, re did fork seals, bled all the brake lines and clutch..stripped the whole bike apart, went through all wiring, polished all the aluminum, found a new pair of jardine exhaust cannisters and had muffler shop fab the pipes to the stock header..just finished putting back the new paint on bike..looks as new if not better. ive got air pods and re jetted mains to 135 to get it started...on the first start up, it only took a couple of turn of the engine and she started right up. exhaust sounds and barks real nice..cant do anymore now, as its full blown winter up here, but will fine tune the carbs in spring.
right now it idles perfect, will rev up to red line easily..come on spring.lol
i cant thank enough for all whom contributed to this site with all the info that i needed to re build this beautiful piece of kawasaki history. here is the last 4 vin..1095...ontario canada

Looks great!

I'll bet you are anxious to start to enjoy all your hard work. Looks like you sacrificed some serious lean angle with that exhaust, I'll bet it sounds great though.

ive got 9 inches of clearance..i know i can get a little more by re positioning of pipe connected to pipe..exhaust has a low grumble to it and really beefs up when blipping throttle..R.J. i would like to see that drawing..thanks

:hello: MIKE: I looked for that drawing. I could not find it. I'll try to find it and post up a pic of it when I can.
