Hi I am in Northern Ireland with an 87 ZL1000 imported here in 96. Last 4 digits 2878. She has 40,000 on the clock, previous owner did a full engine rebuild and powder coated her black, original colour luminous red. Which I would want to return it too eventually. Few mods lowered shocks and recovered seat. I need some help trying to find the month my bike was made and how to find my model specific code? As the stickers have been removed and I am wanting to get new ones made up.

I've got 2880. 25k mi. Runs great. Mostly stock, but for Supertrapps.

Latest project has had a complete resto and going through in the last year. Current mileage is 3705 miles , black and as new condition. Last four of the VIN is 0950

Yeah, I'll make a thread and an album of it when I get it back together. Currently, it has the whole front end off of it right now. It's the last major part of the bike to do besides the tank.

I've got two ZL1000's with the following info;
1 ZL1k, showroom stock, 6000 miles, Luminous vintage red, VIN.:****2419
1 ZL1k, stock, 23,000 miles, Luminous vintage red, VIN.:****2190
Thanks for taking the time to do this Bachuss
Hey I was wondering from you stickers on your frame what month was yours produced? I am trying to get new stickers made up but don't know my production month, can you help please?

Leeds, United Kingdom. Vin No........2828, vintage luminous red, stock except custom bars, almost mint condition........runs like a bag of crap though.

2306, black. Purchased from the original owner. Stock. 12000 Miles. Very good condition. Not sure when I will get started on it but very pleased to have aquired it.

1987 zl-1000 VIN (last 4): 2662, Mileage: 25562
All original parts except for horns (blew off at 107mph in Utah) replaced with virago look a likes. Decided to enter the bike in car and motorcycle shows. Kept the original red and they overlayed a swirling smoke finish that only shows up in bright sunlight or 1000W halogens I use at shows.
All the aluminum parts were buffed out to chrome like finish. Won Fireman's Choice Award at the Arvada Car show in 2008. btw A 2013 Dyno showed better performance than the original based on a 1987 Cycle Magazine chart and it still runs great!!

:hello: Can you post up some pics of your bike & close ups of the replacement horns. You should start an album of your ZL 10.
