Hi!
New to a forum,got a black one in great stock condition.
VIN 1939.
Only 18500 miles on it and summer has just (finally) begun here in Finland...
 
My ZL1000 has 16,641 miles and last four VIN#'s are 0046. Bike is stock. It had sat for years and showed it's age. Color is black but I am thinking of making it the red/maroon if I can find the correct paint in a rattle can (lol). Seriously, if anyone has a line on the OEM paint please let me know. The bike is currently torn completely apart and I am in the process of re-assembling, cleaning and painting as I go. I posted some pics in an album on this site. Will try to keep current!!

Hello all I bought my zl1 last February from a guy in wisconsin. bike was black I repainted it to a two-tone blue silver. just crossing over 36000 miles. runs good but when I get the money I'm going to have the engine gone through may do big bore kit and totally redo. I am currently in Sioux Falls but may move soon to Kansas city

the guy I bought it from has another one and said this one used to be a parts bike when he bought it. he spent 2 years finding pieces such as exhaust radiator etc. I bought it after the parts were put on and basically a fully stock bike, couple dents in tank and little wear and tear.
 
Just bought my buddy's non-running, stock project bike / Last 4 of vin are 2172

ZL 1000, Last 4 of VIN = 0156, stock as far as I know except for filter (K&M), running and looking great, about 12K miles. Resides in garage in Catoosa, Oklahoma.
 
Black 1987 Kawasaki ZL 1000 A1 Eliminator VIN. # *************1218. Mostly stock. Rear factory rim was modified by a Co. in Germany it is now 180 mm. x 17 in. Has low profile bars with 1 in. ROX Speed FX off set risers. After market low mirrors. K & N air filter. Michelin Pilot Road 3 Rain Grove Tech. tires. Front 120/70 ZR 18. Rear 180/55 ZR 17. Muzzy Aluminum 6 blade cooling fan. Progressive fork springs with 2 1/2 in spacers. Progressive 11.5 in. rear shocks. Manual cam chain retention-er. ZL 600 kick stand. Bought in Oct. 2010 with 8,800 miles for $3000. As of Dec. 2012 18,300 miles. Original owner was from south FL & the second owner from Deltona FL.

I currently have three:

#3 Parts bike from Chicago, 10K miles serial number 502172
 
I bought mine used so Im sorta find things out as I go. The previous owner kept calling it a zl1100 so I can only assume some mods have been made. However, I have not been able to locate them. I do know that I have drag handle bars on it and the stock handle bars are no where to be found. Also I believe that they only come stock in red or black, and mine is a blue. So after market paint too :)

I purchased my first ZL1000 in 87 new and had to sell it four years later. Vowed to get another one and in 2008, I purchased a used black ZL with 14,XXX miles in running condition but only in fair condition. I recently completed a complete frame off restoration process. I did paint it the original red color even though it was black originally. Found out there isn't any documentation from Kawasaki as to which bikes were red or black by any codes on the bike. Can't wait to ride it this spring. I do have a completely restored radiator shroud that I am willing to sell if someone is looking. My serial number is 502603.
