I just bought a lithium battery for my Yamaha Sport Quad made by Battery Tender for $104 shipped from Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tende...05&sr=8-3&keywords=yamaha+warrior+350+battery It seems to be a well made battery. What I do not like is it is made in butt wipe China. Battery Tenders home base is in Deland FL. They have a Factory in Deland which has a few hundred employees. Not really sure what they make now that they sourced out to China.
I bought a Battery Tender Lithium charger. My son left the key on over night in our sport quad this past Wednesday so I plugged it in. The charger would not charge the battery. So I figured the charger was bad. We pushed started the quad & he rode it for a few hours. When he came back we checked the charging system & all checked out good. So I figured the new charger is bad so since we only live 15 minutes from Battery Tenders Head Quarters I took the charger over to them. I spent about 15 minutes talking with an Engineer on how lithium cells work. He said if they drop below 8 vdc they may not recover & may be trashed. This can happen to a brand new battery & the charger will not recover it. He tested my new charger & all is fine with it. I asked him how much longer is the live span of lithium over a lead core battery. He said it all depends on how many times you leave on the key. I asked while what good are they. The biggest thing is weight & size. So wippy do da day.
Tried to paste but it's not working. Just search ebay for ballistic batt charger and you can get one from $100.00 then another model for $110.00 from mc-powersports with free shipping. Don't know why I can't paste stuff from ebay or other things unless its a new thread that I start. Keeps saying forbidden 404 error.
Some of the so-called smart chargers will not charge a completely dead battery.
I think when the voltage gets below a certain level it goes into error mode.
Happened to me, and a conventional charger charged it right up.
Everything is good. Charger is doing what it was designed to do & the charging system on the bike is good. Meter reads 14.7 VDC just off idle. At idle I'm getting 13.85 V & when I hit the starter the battery drops to 11.8 volts.
I don't see anything NEGATIVE about the write up on them. Are you POSITIVE about your POST? I get a real CHARGE out of the article and your view of them would seem to be TERMINAL!
