Bike mileage

i know its late,,,im up watching donnie brasco....i dont think im going to work tomarrow ...im looking for excuses for putting posts up here,,,this site is getting as addicting as the bike is,,,,anyways,,,i was curious about which members had the most mileage on their original motors..either zl 1k or 9...and what that mileage was,,just to kind of see what one can expect from these engines,,,i know it depends on different things,,most of us probably average the same amount of time winding these things up as just riding normal...im not out doing burnouts all the time,,,same as you guys...i had 50k milles on my zx9 before i went for a top end,,,,and i change my oil every 2500 miles without a hitch,,,anyways ...my mind is also telling me if i get a zl 1k...the miles would be split between the two...and each would last even more,,,crazy thinking..goodnight,,,,brett

yep... I agree..sounds like you NEED another ZL1000 eliminator...

ya wouldn't wanna mile the bike you have would ya... these are rare classics...could split the miles and keep the miles on each low.. would help keep the bike good low mile condition...

Low mileage for me I think Al (kawtipper) might have 50k miles plus on his.

yeah, this website is just as addictive as our zl's !!! i don't have as many miles on my zl's as some of you. the zl with the most mileage on her that i own is Eleanor, at approx. 24,000 miles she still runs great ! i have to be honest, i do not get out & ride as much as i'd like, but when i do, the ride is awesome ! i just aquired my dad's zl last year with 23,000 miles on her, & have another with 13,000. between the 3 running i can keep the mileage down. i know a few people have zl's with many more miles on their bikes, & they run just as well as lower mileage bikes, just make sure to keep up with rutine maintenance, & hit the road for the thrill !!!! 66K on my 1000. I don't worry about putting miles on it, or rarity, or resale value. It's nice to look at, but more fun to ride.

My ZL900 has done 108,000 kilometers, and ive had it since i bought it a couple of years ago at 86,000ks. So ive done more miles on my ZL in 2 years than many of you have done in a decade or more! How can you have a ZL and not want to ride it every day? I dont understand...

The engine has definitely been out before, and painted, i just have no idea what they did although some used clutch plates did come with the bike. I use it every day and with the detailing ive been doing on it lately, and new black paintjob with prfixer decals it looks amazing (except the bottom triple tree which is the worst part on the bike atm - doesnt want to clean up like the other parts i suspect it will need to come off and be painted?). Il post up some new pics soon I havent done that since i first got the bike.

Keep the oil clean and full, and always warm the bike thoroughly and il get back to you when i hit 150,000! (approx 3 years... )
