Well..hopefully in the next 10-14 days I will get all the parts I have ordered for the bike..

Tejas Custom Cycles.....Mirrors...I already got the right mirror and adaptors...$112.00

Parts Depot....New frt. Turn signals....$50.00

Bike Bandit....New air box covers....$176.00 Ouch!

Kawasaki....New plug boot ends, one swingarm cover, tail light gasket...$110.00

These can all be bought at the same online house and save you alot of coin in shipping fees. Especially those airbox covers, partsdepot carries them for about $60 less for the pair.
 
I just called parts depot...he told me to call a different place as they dont have them (side covers)...That is what they told me on the phone 5 minutes ago...When I ordered my lights (prior to putting stock airbox back on)...I ordered them online and said I would get a confirmation email on the order...a week later I still had nothing...I called them. They said they were sorry and my order would be processed that night...next day I got an email saying the order was cancelled...I called back...They said they made a mistake and it would be taken care of...no confirmation, no nothing...4 days later I called and talked to two different people...Come to find out, the original ones I ordered were discontinued...They fixed me up with some other ones...got my account charged and confirmation of my order, but still don't have the lights....(parts depot)

I ordered my mirrors on 5-6-08....Talked to the lady there...she said no problem, order was taken, account charged and confirmation via email. She told me 7-10 days...her and her husband were taking care of things at the business since her father (owner) was diagnosed with 2-3 weeks to live...End of May, no mirrors...I tried to call at least 100 times..Left messages, emailed them.....nothing....On June 9 I got a thing in my mailbox saying I had a box at the post office...Went down the next day...opened box....one mirror and two adaptors...I tried calling at least 50 times, finally got through...gave my order number and explained I had only gotten one mirror...she took down my number and said they would call back...A week later I called again...explained it again...She checked things out and said it would be taken care of and the other mirror should ship out on 7-2-08...We shall see...

in the midst of all this I have been chasing my problem of the bike running and breaking down on me....Talk about freakin frustration.....
 
Just thought I would mention that I had a #4 carb primary circuit clogged on my zl1000. I found this out by pulling the #4 plug wire off and found no change in rpm. I fixed this on the bike since it was the #4 by pulling the float bowl, air screw, and primary jet. Flushed it from all openings ending with the air screw opening with carb clean and compressed air. Re-assembled and it idled just as smooth as can be.

So if you get it all back together and still are having the same symtoms you will know what to do.
 
Strange, I just bought a pair of airbox covers last week from partsdepotstore and they're setting on my kitchen table. Cost was about $136 for both, shipping was with a bunch of other stuff so I can't break it out.
 
I dont know...it must be me and my stinkin luck...After I read the post from tmdoth, I picked up the phone and called them...I talked to some guy who had a foreign accent. I told him what bike I had and what I was looking for, he gave me the number and name of somewhere else to call (I could not understand what he said the name was) for the chrome covers....There again, just to get my lights (which I still dont have) I went through all that BS....They sounded like incompetent idiots on the phone and their online catalogs were very hard to follow..

These guys will cancel an entire order if one item is not available. I always check the Kaw site first for availability then call partsdepot and tell them it's available and to order it. They will tell you nothing is available for Eliminators without checking because most parts aren't. Person over there who knew his ass from a hole in the ground was ED. I haven't dealt with hodgie yet

They must have improved somewhat, one piece I ordered was cancelled and the rest still came. Didn't talk to anybody, just did what you suggest, checked the Kaw site first, got the part number and checked availability, then ordered it online from partsdepotstore.com

Yep...That's the place...I ordered two frt turn signals and when I was done (on-line) it said I would get confirmation email and my account charged...I waited a week and never saw any of that...Then I called them and told them I had placed the order...The guy looked and had all my info and told me the guy who processes orders had not done it yet...Said they would take care of it that night...I said ok, great...Next day I get an email saying the order was cancelled...So I called them back....again they looked and said they would take care of it....Again I waited...nothing....I called back again and talked to two different people. They got to looking and said those lights were discontinued...he found a different pair that would fit and we did the order...I got email confirmation and my account was charged...I am still waiting for the lights...

i went to dealership, & bought airbox covers for around $130.00 just recently. CHRIS
 
Before I ordered from bike bandit, I checked my local dealer...He told me they were not available...I did get them to get me a swingarm cover and the plug boots and the gasket for the tail light...

I had same type of thing happen to me at that parts depot. they cancelled the order & it took months to get a credit.
I went & placed the order at bikebandit & had no problem.
The stuff that was available shipped & the other stuff cancelled, & I got timely status e-mails.
If parts depot were free, they're not worth the aggravation IMHO.
Dennis Kirk & BikeBandit have my loyalty.
 
Lights showed up from cycle depot today...Cool...Kawi called...my parts are in....I drive to the dealer...They had a hard time finding my parts...The old dude who did the order spelled my last name wrong...They found the parts...I was looking them over as they were ringing me up, they all looked wrong....Sure enuff....the old dude typed in 86 ZL900, but what he looked up was for a 96 ZL600.....So...reordered parts...now it will be middle of next week to get the spark plug boots, swing arm cover and the tail light gasket....Man....I got all the freakin luck.....no left mirror yet either...

Man I tell you what. You just can't rely on people to do things for you these days. I always look up the parts on the kawasaki site to get the numbers, and then give them the numbers. If I was you I would be ****ting. PM me your order name for parts depot. ****es me off that I have been talkjing them up to be so good these past couple years, I'll call them and see wtf is up
 
I will have to look on the invoice for cycle depot....What I dont understand about them is that I ordered on-line initially, then after a week I called them and they had all my info and said they would process the order because it had not been done yet...Then next day when I got that email saying order was cancelled I called to inquire about that...Instead of them looking into it, I feel they just put me off and said they would take care of it, when in reality, the part was discontinued by that supplier and they had to look and get me the identical light from somewhere else....Why couldnt all of that be discovered right away??

The dealer?? I dont know....I guess the guy on the phone was an older guy and he just got everything wrong...The other two younger guys are right on top of it...Usually I have gone in and talked to them and given all the info and they turn the screen around and/or give me a printout to verify what they are ordering for me...

The mirrors?? I understand that I called to order them at a bad time, with the owner getting diagnosed terminal and then dying a couple weeks later...The lady on the phone explained it to me the day I ordered...but.....the day I ordered, everything was processed and should have been shipped as I was billed for the full amount that very day....Now two months later I only have the adaptors and one of the two mirrors...With the bad times the family had, I hate to call and get nasty on the phone, but it is what it is....and the message on the machine a month ago said orders were still being processed and shipping as usual....if this is usual, it aint good.....but I love the mirrors....

check out powersedge.com i ordered airbox covers and a couple of misc. bolts and had them all in 3 days- no problems
