Hello guys,
Well my Eliminator ZL900 now finally start as it should.
Ive been up and down these forums and repairmanuals, replaced IC igniter, measured coils, checking wireing and so on...
I had a huge problem starting the beast the last 2 years (couldnt ride it even at the hottest days without heating the engine with an external heat source) and i first thought the IC igniter was broken. So ordererd a new one from ebay and same results. IC Igniter OK
Measured the coils- they where a little off in Ohm but not much, and i didnt have the best spark so figured it could be bad coils.
1 hour after i ordererd new Dyna coils from Sweden ( i live in Norway) i thought i should adjust the valves while the tank and such was off the bike anyways.
Did the adjustment and whatdoyaknow!it fired right up without choke and calm down at idle speed instantly!
The bike always had run perfect even tho it had startproblems so it never occured to me that it could be a valve problem.
After checking the valves i found out they where about 0.10 mm off. So my new adjustement is 0.15mm on intake and 0.20mm on exhaust valves.
So in extacy of finally beeing able to ride my bike again without putting the bike into an oven
i went inside and canceled my order on the coils
So if any of you gus out there have any issues with starting in cold conditions and such, check the valves.
Come to think of it, check the valves anyways even if it runs good its not that much of a hassle..
It can save you from a broken engine.
Just wanted to let you guys know im happy hehe
