Hey guys,
Just some info on a cheap way to keep your hands and fingers from freezing if you ride in the cold weather. Most of my gear I wear when it gets cold outside keeps me from getting even the least bit chilly, but I've always had trouble with my hands - mostly my fingers. I've got some pretty heavy duty gloves but they still just didn't quite do the trick. I remembered I had some temporary mount handguards for the dirtbike so I bought another pair for the street bikes to see how they would do. Moose Racing makes a set of contoured foam/polyester handguards that attach by way of a small buckle and velcro strap for around $20 - yeah, it's not the greatest look for the ZL but at this point in the year, I would rather ride and look goofy than not ride at all - I may have to put the bike up soon anyway since snow is headed this way which means salt and sand on the road - that's usually when I call it quits. I rode to work this morning - around 25 degrees with the windchill when I left. Once above 40mph the windchill is around -6 degrees according to my windchill chart. I was able to use a standard pair of cheap dollar store winter gloves. My hands and fingers barely got cold. These handguards work great. I've also got a set of electric grip warmers and a multifunction digital display that will go on one of the bikes one of these days and will write up about them as well. Later.
