Why does my new tire look so skinny?

I just recieve my new 150/80 Metzler ME880. Compared to my Dunlop 150/80 tire thats on the bike now it looks a lot more skinny. Is that becuase its not mounted on the wheel or is that how it is? Thanks
 
Sure it's not low carb :lol:

I think it is not mounted or filled the only way to compare is have both mounted side by side or both unmounted side by side.
 
Now since this tire is tubeless do i have to use a tube with my spoke rims on my 97 600? Basically, with the ME880, do i use a tube or no? Thanks
 
You wouldn't normally want a tube in a tubeless tyre but if you intend to use it on a spoked wheel you definately WILL need a tube as the air will sneak out through all them little holes :lol:

Not all tires will Look the Same when Mounted, Just because you have the Same or Bigger Tire, Its got a Lot to do with the Rim Size too, a 170 or 180 will look the Same as a 200 when Inflated, Later Rocky :twisted:
 
ok thanks, i prolly should of bought a tube with my tire. But i guess ill take it to the stealership for the tube and mount and balance.
 
Why not use the tube that is in it already?? If it is a spoke rim, it will have one in there. As long as the tire size is the same, you are good to go....
 
I don't know about your bike, but some newer spoked wheels are sealed for use without a tube. Take off the tire and see if there's a tube. If so, take shlim's advice and use it; if not, don't worry about it.

Very neat to have the over seas guys chime in w/ their slant and lilt as well.
