Missing digits "Go Figure"

I was at the DMV office to transfer title and when they looked at the stamped VIN # we noticed it was missing the ZL (4th and 5th letters). all other numbers were there. The sticker showed all the digits.
The DMV person rejected the VIN verification and is pushing me on to the CHP for the verification.
Q, ,, Is the VIN # any where else on the bike
anyone else with this issue?
 
I don't think it's anywhere but the neck.
 
Ducky, have you already added the 'ZL' to your VIN and counter-checked if the # fits within the digits of page #2 you find in the supplement from download section? ZL900-A1 was built 7000 times so probably the A2 as well...?!?
 
I simply meant to take the VIN as usual with ZL i.e. JKAZL... like on the sticker (which could be faked?). Or put it here if you like so more can check out.

I did not add any digits
personally I think its a flaw at manufacturing and no one gave a **** until I try to register it

On any of the manuals or supplements

You're right, must be a flaw coz VIN is valid. The supplement shows @ the first two pages the covers of front&rear, on the rear is a little box w/ VINs used for the ZLs (I can't make an insert pic w/ my smartphone, maybe later on office pc).
