I am working on my zl1000 and cant find my supplement manual anyplace.

Can someone tell me which bolt holes we use for the zl1000 on the cam gears as I just cant remember?

Not sure what you mean on this Paul. I'm new to the 1000. I looked in the supplement and didn't see anything in the 1000 section about different holes or cams. Tried downloading the manual from here so you have a copy on the computer? Sorry. Later.

If I remember right Paul, the cam gears are rotated ccwise. I will pull my originals out of the box in a bit to confirm! You putting stockers in?
BTW, the manual won't help you on this one! That I do remember!

I am tryin to find all thats been Fu--ed up on the zl1 I got and think he may have the cams in wrong. I did find my zl9 suppliment and got the suppliment downloaded from this site but they dont help me much at all.

For those of you who dont know there are four bolt hloes on each cam gear and they all will line up!! I think the previous owner has them wrong but its been so dam long since I tore a zl1 apart I just dont remember which holes for which cam.

I am almost posative for the zx1000 one gear gets installed with circular cut out to circular cut out and the other gets square cut out to sqare cut out, but the set up for the zl is the same from cam to cam (circle to circle)

Thanks Wuputt your the man!! Hows a bout a pic so everyone cansee clearly what we are a talking about?

You are dead right on both Paul! I just checked my stock cams. Both in circular milled holes. I remember too that the ZX cams were set up as you described, just can't remember which one was different!
I can't load pics here from my phone or I would post em!

Good luck on your project!

Yep they are set up incorrectly!

Intake on the zx should be set up square to square and exhaust should be circle to circle, but dont qote me as I said its been a long time!!

I will take a pic when I get done installing them the right way, now I gots to check and make sure they are indeed zl cams and not zx cams.

Thanks again Wuputt!

Might be gpz cams, not sure.

Well the bike is running as of now and will idle on her own. Alittle noisy for my tastes but we will see after a test ride and some thicker oil. Sounds way better than she did before now that the cams are in right the electrics are sorted out (sort of) and the pilot jets clean.

Guess I'll run it for the summer and rebuild it over the winter

Does anyone know of a good source for radiator hoses they all look a little sick but the top hose is leaking!

Check with PR, he had a source for a few of them, not sure which ones though.

By the way here is a pic of the early 900 cam gear and one of the properly installed newer 4 bolt cam gears

I was just searching here about hoses too. I'm going to replace the lower one on the 1000 as it looks weak. After searching, prfixer had posted you could use Napa hose 8722 (I think that was the number) for a the short ones. I didn't see any replacements for the others. The thread is below. Later.
