Here are a few pics of the 1K with the new bars, mirrors and levers on it...

Mirrors are tiny but I can see stuff out of them...Just rode it around in traffic a bit...

Big thanks to CD85 for the help and use of the garage....Went there after work yesterday and I got home at 2 am....

Lookin good Willy, how do you like the feel of em?

For the guy to make the bars was $120.00...He has a powdercoater near him so he does alot of powdercoating (no chromer close)...The powdercoat was $25.00....so my total was $145.00..

Found out a few things mounting them....To get everything on the ends, it was a very tight fit with the master cylinders coming in contact with the risers...I would have liked to put my master cylinders more to where the mirror thread area was parallel to the ground, but it would hit the riser...I got them almost touching...with the tiny mirrors I wasnt sure I would get them angled down enough...I originally had the bars rolled towards me a little more, but there was no way I could have used the mirrors....The risers could probably be a little closer together and that might solve that...I had him make the center of the bars and the riser tubes 1" to look more beefy...The right grip/control distance is a little off in same dimension...left one a little wider because of the choke lever...That plus the brake and clutch lines hitting the riser, I coulod not scoot the controls all the way up to the 7/8-1" junction so there is a small gap...Not a biggie to me...also when we drilled the locator hole on the top of the bar on the right side, you have to be real careful to get it exactly in the right spot (the right switch has a locater tit that must fit in a hole in the bar)..we had to mess with that and sand the powdercoat off under the throttle grip because it was sticking....all in all very happy with the look and feel...

The bars on Jarney's 1K had a 15 degree pull back at the ends of the bars..I ad the guy make mine 10 degrees to make them a little straighter...The risers also could be a little shorter to get the bars closer to the tank..maybe a couple inches...Lots could be done different...the guy does nice work, but it took him quite a while to get mine done...

Seems like a decent deal for bars since he is willing to make anything you want. After riding mine just around the driveway I can tell that I'm going to love these bars compared to the stockers. Looks good Willy, I like the mirrors too. How about posting up the info for this guy - maybe in the vendor area in case somebody wants to have a set made? Later.

Dam Willy they look GREAT!!!! The guy who built them did a wonderful job on them thats for sure.. Finally in this day and age someone who still takes pride in there work..

Update.....

I changed out these bars for a set of aftermarket bars that are almost identical to the 900 bars...I still have the bike somewhat apart so I temporarily bolted everything on...Took a crappy pic with the phone...

The mirrors are OEM Meanstreak....Other mods I am gonna do...I am taking the backrest off, chopping the mounts off and grinding them like kawboy...I am keeping the stock rails and back rest...I have a set coming from bacchus....Rear turn signals are getting shortened like my 9. I dropped off the seat today to get it recovered...I am going with a smooth black and having them round the front of the passenger section to take out that stair step look...I am also having them shave an inch off the rear pad to give it a lower look....Progressive shocks are gonna be soon...

Carbs done by Rick...new dyna coils, plugs and wires...new airbox boots and reconditioned K&N in the box....

Here is a pic of the bars...

looks a lot like the bars that were on my zl1 when I got it. The previous owner ruined 2 tanks because they hit the tank and he didnt modify the stops to keep it from happening. Please do yourself a favor and dont ruin your tank!

Yep...For sure....

Before I snapped that pic, I spent some time fitting the bars and checking and rechecking clearance in both directions...The last thing I wanna do is put any mark on the tank....The good thing is that these bars do not have the hole for the switches pre-drilled....So since the cables on both sides are tied to the switches, you can rotate the bars a little and rotate the switches a little to give yourself clearance....Once I get them exactly where I want them, I can mark and drill the line-up holes and lock the switches in place...The way it sits right now in that pic the cables have more clearance on the tank than the 900 does....I think the rise on the stock 900 bars are maybe a touch less than the rise on these and man when you rotate even the slightest amount it can be the difference between hitting and not...I may modify the stops too just as an added measure...

With the exception of reshaping the seat, all of the mods are bolt on with all the stock parts still in hand...

Glad you switched them , Willy. I for one do NOT like them. Just my opinion. Good call on the M/S mirrors, though.
