Carb Question.

I just purchased a set of Concours carbs to replace the ones on my 900. My bike woundn't idle and didn't feel like it had full power. I new the diaphrams were shot and by time I priced all of the individual parts it was getting pretty pricy. I found a set off an '04 Concours and it looks like everything lines up except for the throttle cable bracket. I'm just wondering if I be better off going with concours throttle cables to fit the bracket or swap the bracket and keep my 20+ year old cables? Another option is to take all the parts I need out of the new carbs and put into the original carbs but that's not my favorite option.

Anybody have any experience with this?

Use what ya got, change the bracket.
If not you may need the concours throttle assy
also.

Just had a quick question with reguard to wheather an engine from 86 zx900 would be a good choice to swap with my 85 zl900. My zl's engine is locked up. I have not had a chance to open it up yet. But I found a good deal on a running zx900. Any of you guys thoughts would be great. Thanks

From what I understand is the zx has a balance shaft, differnet oil pan, and head. You shouldn't have much trouble using it as long as the parts you need from the old engine are good.

Check into a zrx1100/1200 price before you make a decision.

Oldschool,
you could use the ZX()) cylinder head - it is the same as a ZL, but with different cams in - to give a more sporty top end rush.
The ZL was designed to get up and go from traffic lights - so was tuned more fror low down torque etc.
You would also need to swap over the drive to use your shaft instead of the ZX's chain.
Don't think this is that difficult if you have the time and room to work on it.

ZRX engine is a definite alternative - check out MachIV's motor :D
