I just picked up a digital 400, already have 2 lunchbox size chargers but have an optima yellow from 15' in my mustang and topping it up wasn't working so well with my standard chargers.

I really like the digital readout and features. I charged the yellow top with old charger and it was blinking like it was full then hooked up this new one and it read 1/4 charge. The new charger took it to 100% overnight. I bought it because supposedly it will tickle old batteries to life and the optimas aren't cheap. I also have lots of things with batteries that sit around. Went with the lower amp because I have 12 amp chargers if needed and it doesn't look to give up any features to the bigger charger.

If you don't have a good maintainer I am recommending this one. Under $100 and well worth it if you've priced batteries lately.

I like to use a desulfator/charger for the old flooded types. Not many chargers have it but it's nice feature to have to supplement a regular charger.

I'm not quite sure when it goes through the desulfate stage but directions said it does it monthly when in maintenance mode. It's nice having the readout of amps being thrown at the battery.
