Pingel install...

I can position it any way I want to depending upon how much I tighten the hex valve. It is set up pointing to the right side as of now.

WillyD and I just both purchased Pingel's again for our bikes. I needed one for the 1000. I didn't get the valve I wanted but it will work, otherwise, I have put the a1703c adapter on the 900 and the 1000 and it seems to work fine. I don't have the 1000 tank on the bike yet but I don't see why it wouldn't work since it worked fine on the 900. Or are you referring to the different valve? Later.
You do mean the A1702C adapter right??

I just finalized the install of the 4211CG and A1702C adapter on my bike. Looks good, quality great, but I would really like some detents. If I was to improve this design I would add detents and shorten the throw. I hope my floats are sealing good :laughing7:

Yeah, it was a '02 not an '03, must have been a typo. Later.

Now that I have had some time with this bad boy I like the feel of the lever and not having detents isn't really an issue when you know which way reserve points (straight out). The lever action is really smoooth and effortless with my gloved fingertip and the knob is easy to feel for. I still think the throw could be shorter.

in case anyone wants to know...

the pingle vacume fuel valve will not fit on a zl900, but will fit on a zl1000

so i got everything installed on the bike, petcock and adaptor. sealed the vacuum line, and im still havin some problems on my '86 zl600. It idles fine, but if i rev it up to quick it will die. if i rev it slow it will go up, but be slow coming down. i read it could be an air fuel mixture problem. any tests i can do to diagnose this? Tape over the snorkel?

Budkaw900 came over today for some help with the pingel install and tank venting issues. I use a air hose regulated at 20psi to help blow out the filings as I open the hole(pic1). Then I test fit the pingel with 4 wraps of teflon tape to the adapter plate to see which way the adapter plate gets installed. Mark the adapter plate for orientation. On the ZL1000 you need to remove the petcock from the adapter plate remove the teflon tape and apply 4 wraps of new teflon tape. Install the adapter only with the correct orientation that was marked earlier and torque to 8-10 ft lbs. Then install the pingel into the adapter plate. On the zl1000 the outlet of the petcock will cover the rear adapter plate bolt when it's lined up correctly. On the ZL900 the petcock handle in the "on" position will cover the rear adapter plate bolt. This will give you clearance between the handle and the valve cover when in the "off" position.

It's been my experience that when you properly torque the adapter plate the pingel gasket gets squished too flat and will leak. I use felpro rubber gasket material to make my own gasket. It's a lot stronger than the pingel gasket. I also use the included hylo-mar gasket sealer on the adapter plate bolt threads.

Got him all fixed up and as the pic shows he's very happy

Yes, he does look pretty happy :laughing7: .

Have you found the hylo-mar or equivalent locally?

Why you need some? I saved the leftovers from both pingels

Thanks, not at the moment, but at some point I'm going to switch tanks.

Gonna put a 900 tank on my 1000 :)
