I'd appreciate advice on this bike lift

Does this design look safe to use on a 900? I'm only concerned because of the pipes under the bike and the chrome side shields. I intend to use it regularly to spin the bike around in my backyard shed so i can head it back out the way i came in. What do you think?

sorry no good news here. the lift will work but will "bend" the chrome covers "ever so lightly" maybe it might not be noticable on your 900 it doesnt really show on my 1000. you might be able to use a block of wood to hit the motor only and not touch the exhaust if your bike is stock height. mine is 2" lower and the lift barely fits under it. trial and error.

Kind of funny how the cross bar between the 2 padded lift area's is visible in the down position, but not in the up position?? Maybe removable??

I have not yet seen a version of this style lift that will work perfectly with the 900 or 1000. The only thing I have seen is an adapter for one of these brands, that was made for a Sportster. Supposedly it is a jig that rests or bolts to the lift pads, and locks into the frame at some point.

I have thought of something similar a while back, but never thought it would be worth the time and $$$. Sounds like a winter project....

Joe, I use that style of jack for all three of my Eli's and have not had any problems as of yet. You do have to be careful of the heat shields as stated earlier 'cause it is possible to bend them. I purchased my jack from Sears for around $80.00. More or less if you can find it on sale. It also comes with two sets on straps to hold the bike securely. At first I was skeptical about using this type of setup but after seeing a buddy of mine use his jack I was sold on it. I'm real happy with mine so far.

Hey, thanks everyone. Martin, does yours have 4 wheels? The one i saw at Sears only had 2, and they did not pivot. I need to be able to turn the bike around. Shlim1, that bar is there if you look closely, but maybe a block of wood is a good idea. Thanks again.

Joe, Mine will pivot. It has two secure wheels in the front that are stationary as far as no turning. the two in the rear are locking castor type and do in deed pivot. The model number for my unit is 50190, motorcycle/ATV jack. Martin

Yeah, really helpful there at overlander. I rang the guy a few months ago when I was pricing around for a new set of mufflers for my 750. If memory serves right his mufflers are 316 S/S too so thats an added bonus... The only thing that held me back was the delivery costs from aus to ireland was a bit high.

We have some great Irish pubs, the weather is comparable, you can get new exhaust, don't have to pay shipping, account for the airfares as a necessary cost for a working holiday in Oz.

The replica mufflers you can get look great, but there is alternatives out there that look pretty cool too.
If you look at the pics of my bike you will see that I have used Supertrapp mufflers and I think they look great (personal opinion obviously)

Here is A picture of the set overlander sent me, they look pretty good!

It comes out to about 520.00 us dollars for the pair or 290.00 for one. That's really A pretty good deal!
