VIN #

CAN YOU TELL THE MODEL OF THE BIKE, ie 900cc OR 1OOOcc, BY THE VIN #ON THE FRAME?
I'VE ASKED A SALVAGE YARD FOR A FRAME FOR A ZL 900 AND THEY SENT ME THE VIN BUT I CAN'T TELL THE cc OF IT AND THAT'S PRETTY IMPORTANT.

You can Call Kawasaki Consumer Services in the US, Phone # is 949-770-0400. There Pretty Helpful, Just tell them you Want to get the Difference Between a 900[ 85 and 86 are Identical] and the 1000 Frame, Hope this Helps, Later Rocky.

I did ask them originally for a 900 frame so I'm hoping they're an honest company.
All they sent was a fax of the title which has the VIN #.
If they're honest everything is good... but you see what I mean? I'd like to be sure it's not a 600 or 750 frame.

I HAVE AN OLD ONE TOO AND IT REALLY DOESN'T HELP, UNLESS THE WHOLE TAG IS VISIBLE.

Kaw-a-bunga, From looking at the frame of my bike (85 900) and using a little bit of logic, usually the first 8 digits of a Vin number be it car or bike designate manufacturer, body style, engine and other main info about the vehicle while the remainder of the Vin is production information.

Using this a 85 ZL900 frame Vin should look something like JKAZL2A1 notice the difference on Bigred's Vin for the 1000 (JKAZLCA1)...

That makes perfect sense. Now that I know what to look for.
I contacted Kawasaki US and they found the info for me. It's definately a 900.
