Silicone coolant hose sets coming this week for ZL750/900/1000

Well done for getting the hoses made up Rob, if any of my hoses bust i'll give you a shout. Will you be selling them individually? David zl750 UK

Hi. Thanks for the vote of support, much appreciated.

The single pipe route is a bit of a tricky one to be honest. I did speak to them regarding that, but their general opinion was to replace the 3 hoses together.

They did have the 4th one, behind the rad to look at as well, but their advice to me was that the 4th pipe is very short and near enough straight, so chance of failure on that was minimal. Also, as it is still available, they didn't think it was a cost effective one to produce. Quite kind of them to take my pocket into account I thought, as they could have just said 'do all 4'.

The general consensus by them was replace the 3 hoses as a set, as a 'good' new one, can transfer pressure to a different pipe and could cause older (OEM) ones to fail. With that in mind, I personally replaced the 4th pipe behind the rad a few weeks ago when I did the front and rear 'O' rings on the coolant bars in anticipation of the 1st sets arriving.

I'm in the process of fitting a set of the Gloss Black ones to my 900, so I will take some good pictures and put them in an album to allow folk the see how shiny and nice they look.

Cheers.

Rob.

Here are some images of the Gloss Black silicone hoses I've had produced fitted to my ZL900 for you to have a look at.

Have a look at my albums, as I still can't figure out how to put the images into the post.

Cheers.

Hi Rob,

those look great. I wish I had the money for those. I have so much money in my other critical parts that I had to buy my hoses from my local auto parts store. In the future if you still have them I may just have to order set. Good job on the production aspect of fine vintage parts.

Bob

Cheers Bob, much appreciated. I know the blessed exchange rate is a killer for you guys, but the way the UK economy is going you may only have to wait a few months until it's a 1 to 1 rate <lol>

As I said, the mandrils are all made up, and I can order as and when the time comes around for more sets.

Cheers.

I am going to keep that idea in the back of my head...The hoses look great and I'm pretty impressed so far.

Really the price is not too bad seeing how we would probably never replace them again...But I will watch that exchange rate and if it comes down some over the next few months I might hit you up!

Hello Rob!

What time you doing the parts in ebay? I will announce your offer on our german website.

Can it be possible to ship the parts to germany?

Bye, Alex

Cheers for that Vinny, much appreciated. I've sent him a quick PM to tell him I'm prepared to offer them £10 cheaper to the forum members as no evil bay fees included doing it that way <lol>

Hi.

No, they are not Samco, as Samco were not intrested at all in dealing with a 'none trade' individual.

I do appreciate the exchange rate issue as well.

I did as much reaserch as I could regarding finding other pipes that are a similar shape and design to the ZL ones from any make of bike and after nearly 12 months I haven't found anything that I was happy with, or that seemed to come particularly close to them.

The classic wrap effect gives a dull 'older style' pipe look as opposed to them being shiny black, but as I said, I shall put some photos up once I have them, so you can see.

The silicone hoses are more robust and have a longer life expectancy than the normal EPDM rubber ones that were fitted OEM.

Cheers.

Rob.

Im glad someone is doing this. Price is some what high, but I would pay it. Do you know of any after market relay/switches for the cooling system. Some are not produced any more. I need the one that screws into the back of the thermostat housing that has a single black GND. wire. If I GND. it the relay under the tank clicks. Its the one closest to the seat. I ordered all the OEM that was available. Thanks R. J.

Hi there Rob,
I know your thread regarding the hoses was sent in 2011, but would you still have a set for the zl1000 knocking about, I have been trawling the internet for a couple of days now with no success. The one I am particularly after is the large bottom hose part no. 390621126 but if they come as a set no problem. You may be my only hope! I am a UK resident tel no. 01454 850651.
Regards Simon
