I have broken another speedo cable and the speedo is still "floating" and jumping, I have lubed the end of the speedo, the drive, and the cable. Ihave been told that the bearing in the speedo might need to be replaced and the internals need to be cleaned and re-greased. I found this company and he offers these services- basically taking apart and re-building the internals. Has anyone ever used a company to do this? He takes the bezel off on a lathe and reinstalls the bezel on the lathe, everything including the tumblers are taken down, lubed and put back together.
After speaking with him he sounds old school and seems to know what he is talking about, any thoughts on this...

Never heard of him but it's nice info to have. Seems a good way to go with the problem you're having with it though.

Sounds pretty serious, I think the only thing that would keep me from trying him is cost. So how much??

Well Jim considering the cost of a new one that is a great deal. Plus you will maintain the correct mileage for the bike! I would like to get the tach on my zl1000 done, it's all over around 4700 rpm.

How in the hell is he using a lathe to remove and install a bezel??

My guess is he cuts the plastic with a very fine cutting tool then glues it back together. I have thought about using that tecnique instead of trying to pull the chrome rim back.

It sounded like he puts the speedo on the lathe and at a slow rpm he works off the bezel, he told me he can remove and reinstall the bezel without damaging or warping it. When he puts it back together he uses rollers to mold the bezel back on while the speedo is spinning on the lathe. He said he could also make any parts within the speedo that are damaged, including the face...

I think I speak for all of us when I say You should give him a try and report back your experiance.

After looking at MAACHIV's pictures I am curious as to how he got the ZRX speedo to fit in the ZL cup... I would definitely be interested in that... Now please tell me how you did it!!!

If this guy can rebuild mine to like new for $200, that's the best deal I've heard of in a long time. After Christmas, I'll be the guinea pig if nobody else has yet.
