Vintage Motorcycle Days (VMD) 2011

I am going to bring a grill to the track. Usually what happens is there are a few of us who show up on thursday to get over to the track to set up the club space. Friday is when the event officially opens. We will most likely go out at some point thursday and buy some food, drinks, etc...On friday and saturday at the club space at the track we usually fire up the grill and cook food for all the members who are there at the track. Burgers, dogs, brats, chicken, etc...There are food vendors at the track if you so desire to get yourself something there, but for the last 3 years, we have had food available during the day at the track for members who wish to eat....

Breakfast was usually a "on your own" thing. In the past years, several guys have stayed in a local hotel, but the cost, plus the hassle of trying to get it booked and parking has made it more difficult. The campground is pretty close. In the evenings, it is a toss up of what to do. Sometimes when they get ready to close the track for the evening, we will get whoever wants to get together, out for a ride and show up somewhere for a group dinner...

Thanks for the information!! I assumed that there were some things that had been planned out,I just didn't know if it was a complete free for all and everyone just did whatever. So, there is a spot at the track where we all hang out during the day?? I have heard of the "club space" before I guess I didn't know it was a specific area, I just thought wherever people ended up hanging out was considered the "club space"....

Thanks again, Obviously this is my first trip, and I was just trying to get a feel or what to expect!!

It's all good my friend...I would suggest getting a few people's cell numbers...I will PM you mine. More than likely thursday it will be me, Chris, Markus 56, ZLMark, Wuputt, Putt Putt and Furchin arriving at the club space. What it is, is you come into the event through the gate and you have to go all the way in and back to where all the vintage club sites are. If you trailer, you can bring everything to the clubspace. If you wish to leave your trailer there the whole time, you should be able to. No cost to park. Chris has a huge trailer with sort of a mobile workshop and guys are willing to jump in and help anyone do anything. Along the roads in the club space area are a bunch of different clubs. The sections are somewhat roped off and we will have a sign at the front. Guys park all the ZL's in the front and people wander thru during the event. They look at the bikes and will talk to us. We usually have a couple tents to sit out of the sun. Drinks there, lawnchairs and just hang out and talk bikes. There is a swap meet going on the whole time and ofcourse racing on the track almost coninuously. Some guys hang out in the trailer to watch or help with repairs, etc....usually around lunch time, the grill gets fired up and guys (and girls) can eat, drink and be merry. Bring whatever you can or wish to (coolers, drinks, tent, etc)...it is just a relaxed good time. Sometimes during the day a few guys may go out and hit the roads around the area for a ride or whatever.....Very cool time...

I'm getting to town on Thursday afternoon and I'll be on site #140 at the campground, just to let you guys know. I think Bacchus will be bunking with me as well.

Oh, and if anyone wants to convoy, I'll be leaving Wisconsin Thursday morning.

i will be heading out thursday morning (july 21), & should arrive there sometime around noon, or a little after. i will be hauling Eastwood's, & 1yr.wonder"s ZL's in trailer. they will both be coming into town with me, but not sure if we are going to track, or campground first.

last year i met up with Markus, & the Wuputt clan at track. we picked up our weekend passes, then we went to campground to drop off our camping gear, then went back to club space to start setting up.

I am going to make it up there on Fri or Sat not sure which. I am going to trailer the bike up if I get my hitch on the Jeep. I am looking forward to meeting some of you and seeing some really cool bikes.

Mark....What time are you gonna be rolling thru? Will meet up with you to convoy...

If I leave around 5 that would put me in Indiana about 8. I could leave earlier.
Waiting to see if Illby1 will be able to join us. Too bad Billy has some bullshyt excuse for not coming. :laughing7:

billy has more excuses than jake elwood had for his fiancee. lol.:pk:

Well, Since you mentioned the Blue's Brothers....... I helped my buddy build a neat little toy you guys might like. He found a 1974 Dodge Monico that actually was a California Highway Patrol car back in the day.... its got a cop motor a 440 cubic inch plant, its got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks ... and the model was made before catalytic converters so it will run good on regular gas ...

This was our ULTIMATE Holloween Costume!!! We would cruise down the Main drag (College Ave) and people would be yelling lines from the movie at us!! It was Great!!!

Here are a couple pictures from many years ago.....

Blues Brothers and Animal House are my two favorite movies. I tell my wife, I'm going to find a car like that and make it my daily driver to work and park it right next to the BMW and Lexus in the parking lot.

Well ordered my weekend passes and a camping permit for VMD. Decided to stay right at the track so I can have the truck and bikes close at all times.

I didn't think it was possible to stay at the track. Every year that I have been there, they come around to make sure everyone is out of the track and it goes on lock down. The campground is not actually on the track grounds...unless it is different than I am aware and that is entirely possible..

I bought a $30 tent camping pass and the grounds are out by where you take the demo rides. There is a shower house there as well. They are suppose to reserve your spot when you pay in advance.

Oh...OK....very good...I was not aware of that...Are you tent camping?

Sounds like we are gonna have a pretty good turn out this year....damn I gotta get my 1K together and ready....I just have to find thew stinkin time...

Heck, we may be doing an all balls install in Chris's trailer as well as a carb sync and brake pads on friday...

Now that my Goldwing's off the lift, my ZL1k is currently getting it's yearly check-up and readying for VMD. Valve adjustment, fork seals, re-seal of the pumpkin and general detailing. I'm hoping to see several new members this year!!:headbang:

Yes, taking my 20 year old Joe Camel tent and air mattresses that way can keep and eye on the bikes and truck.

Well, I talked to my buddy last night and we are coming FOR SURE!!! I am going to stay in touch with Wissler (Mark) and try to hook up with him to "convoy" on the way there. My buddy has a 2-up trailer for our bikes (He has a Suzuki M109R) and should be leaving Thursday morning sometime.

I know I have asked already, but is there anything that I could bring to help out the group? Or are the big things mostly covered already?? I know someone said that there will be a grill (or 2) set up at the track.... Just curious, I am not sure how much room we may have,we will be brining his Minivan... Let me know if anyone can think of anything.....
