ZL1000's kick ZL900's Ass !!

Lowlife,
I have no doubt that what you say about your riding & motor building skill is true, and yes you have responded and answered some of my tech. questions.

However, you know... Im just gonna have to make ya prove it !!

Besides if I as an inexperienced racer, and not a pro motor builder can take your 900 then says alot for the ZL1000 doesnt it....

From what I remember reading in an article the 900 was ahead for 4 seconds, but lost by .8 second by the end of the 1/4 mile...

A great rider on a 900 could beat a good rider on a 1000, but not as likely the other way around...

And we're talking stock specs. Anyone with technical know how can supe up a 900 to beat a stock 1000. But if you look at the dyno, off the assembly line it's an undeniable fact. THE ZL 1000 IS FASTER.

You can talk all you want about variables, riders, mods, ect. None of that changes the facts. I repeat THE ZL 1000 IS FASTER.

Thank you, that will be all.

bro, i cant make it out your way this winter, by bike is torn apart, for fresh paint & stuff, but if you can make it to m/o, 2008 that'll give us all time to freshen up our launching skills, & we can settle this dispute respectfully, & honorably.

it'll be a beautiful site to see more than a couple zl-oa members running their bikes ( zl900 & zl1000) together. who knows, maybe we'll learn a little from each other

keep this in mind. i am not saying the 1k's are by no means, slow, but neither are the 900's ! & i'll be honest, posting times on the site does not mean nothing to me, track condition, & weather play a part in how fast the bikes make it down the track.

we should try to run the same track on the same day ! CHRIS

There was articles that had it both ways, one said the 900 was faster, the other said the 1K was. Who else here has ridden both? I would like to hear more opinions on the two. It only counts if both were similar condition, like mileage, mods, etc. And for the record, if I was single, I would have the bike in the back of the truck and would be on my way to Phoenix. Never been there and it would be a good as excuse as any. :happy1:

if this is of any use, on my modified zl400 (topic somewhere here) i got a 16secs quater at 83mph (5th attempt on first time) which is crap i know, but enjoyed every sec of it...but being a student, have only been to one, but loved the bike so much that im in the middle of converting it back into a road bike...not that it will end the abuse :blackeye:

hey boys what does it matter which is faster :banghead:

new stock 1000cc sportbikes will go to 10´s so they are much faster but i still dont want to have one, both 900 and 1000ZL have the look that all new bikes dont, thats why i rather drive ZL´s :cool10:

lumi,

i'll agree with that !
i'm not asking for a run off, but, i will step up & defend the zl900 !, i know that all this trash talk against the 1k, & zl900 is all in friendly fun !
they're both awesome bikes! , have the looks,& have the power that we all love . just amazing that they still get this much attention, & still turn heads, after all these years ! CHRIS :cool10:

oh yeah, the bottom line is wether you ride a 900 or a 1k you still have got a bad ass bike !!

Ive just gotta harass you guys cuz nobody's got ZL900 times, and a mid winter rally in sunny Arizona would be very very cool !

I am trying to provolk you guys into getting yours on the track and givin' it a go.

While it may be true that the newer crotch rockets may win the 1/4 mile run, there is a great sense of satisfaction in stomping them off the line repeatedly, and let me tell you gentelmen, you've got the machienes to do just that.

The crotch rockets may be first accross the finish line but let me assure you a properly launched ZL will keep them playing catch up for the majority of the run. Those guys will spend most of the time chasing your tail lights !! In the first 1/8 we kill em. in the second 1/8 to the finish is where they finnaly will catch ya.

I gotta say that the look on those guys faces when your 20+ year old cruzer leaps off the line and places them in the catch me if you can position is definately priceless. Those guys definately need a full track to catch ya. he he......

I think that in the crotch rocket riders mind, nothing can compete with them except another crotch rocket, and when you smoke em off the line time and time again, well its a beautiful thing. you can see the wheels turning in thier minds.... "that zl almost smoked me.... what the!!!!"

As far as "trash talkin'" yes I have been talkin trash to you ZL900 guys, in good fun. The bottom line is though, in 20+years you (ZL900) members have no times posted and we (ZL1000) have ! You guys cant possibly let that go can you !!! Im not saying you guys are sissy's but that dont look good....

I think the only honerable thing to do is to put this to the test .... we must know the answer to this delema... we must respectfully end the speculation and end the misconceptions.

Besides how cool would some video of ZL1k vs. ZL9 be??? me thinks very very cool !

We need a ZL900 rider to come out to phoenix, to defend the mighty ZL900. Unless someone local is up to it...........Oh Elimax..........

In the old KERA forum there was one member who was dragging his 9. His name on the forum was Knightkadosh, he lived in Lancanster, PA. Real name was Brian, we rode together a couple of times but have not been able to get in touch with him for close to two years now. Maybe I can try to track him down again and see if he has some times to post.

I was going to post my time slips but I can not find them I did ? 10.446 at 126 mph I think ...LOL on my Z
does that sound about right ?
My ZL 900 has out ran a few sport bike's stop light to stop light . but I real don't want to drag race mine .
she is rode hard sometimes . I know the bike can handle and I know now to launch but I'm not going too

I wont do a "pinks" but I will line up against a 9 any day of the week! Chris, you better work on your launch and shifting cuz you gonna be lookin at a "Putt Butt" if you are runnin me!

Next summer I will have both my bikes ready to run, you guys that have rode with me know that I am not afraid to put em to the test! I may be gettin older but will still run with the dogs and put the pups to the test!

wuputt, my friend !,
are you setting up a challenge ?????
i'll step up !!!! :)

i can handle a friendly challenge from a good friend.
Eleanor, & i, will be ready !, well, Eleanor will definately be ready.
i just found out my doctor wants to set up another surgery on my leg, (hopefully this winter ) i'm hoping soon, so i'll be walking again by spring, if the surgery goes as planned, with no complications this time around, & soon enough, but i expect to be wheelchair bound for most of this winter.

nothing will stop me from working on my bike though ! i can still do the mods from wheelchair . :D will keep you posted on when the surgery will take place . CHRIS :cool10:
