Good parts source?

Where is a good place to order parts online? I need new Throttle Valve sliders and was planning to order them online but don't know a good website to trust.

Hey Rammy,
Go to buykawasaki.com and get your part #s then go to ronayers.com to buy them. Ronayers usually beats Kawi by 30%. I and many others on this site have bought from them and I have not heard of any problems. The only drawback may be the turn time, took me about 10 days to get my parts. Good luck on your carb problem. I am suprised that your slides are wore out so soon, I have 20,000 miles on mine and slides are still in good shape.

Give Ed @ Parts Depot a try as well!! They are not set up for web purchasing yet, so you will have to call @ 1-800-245-3101. They are based in New Jersey, and will ship worldwide. If you get the part #, they will beat any other price you have.

I was surprised too when the mechanic at the dealership told me that but he said it was basically the rubber diaphram that was bad, thus not allowing vacuum to raise the slider and causing the flat spot at 5k rpm. They want $112 per slide and 4 hours to install at $65 per hour plus shop and taxes on top. Form the research I've been doing it doesn't seem that difficult to replace other than I'll need to slide the carbs over to get to number 2 and 3. I was going to take 1 and 4 out and inspect to see what the mechanic was talking about.

Shlim1, I just got an email from Ed at Parts Depot and his prices are definitely cheaper than the guys down in Florida. I'm ordering the Concours tensioner assy 12048-1113 and it's $10 cheaper through Ed and the camshaft chain 92057-1160 is $12 cheaper. Thanks for the info and now I just gotta figure out how to get the money to him and get him to ship to my friend in Hawaii or England to beat the customs boys out of their rediculous duties and customs fees.

Hi Guys,
Could do with some help here. just got the bike ready for its first run, idles great but when I pull away and change up a gear the revs do drop. If I pull the clutch in the bike (and close the throttle) just keeps on revving and takea about 60 seconds before it returns to idle.
Have had another set of carbs on the bike same problem. Have checked for leaks none found. I have heard if the valves are not correctly adjusted this could cause this problem? Any one ever had this problem??

This may be a stupid thing to ask but did you check you're throttle cable and housing up on the bar? To make sure it's not sticking or that the cable itself hasn't gotten kinked somewhere? Just a thought.....

Yes thats a weird one. Here is where i would start. when the problem happens take a long pair of needle nose pliers and crimp off the vacuum line from the tap and bowl vent hoses to see if there is fuel getting back into it.

make sure you post the fix for this one. :thumbup:

Sounds like either an air leak or sticking throttle slides. Also check that the 'off' cable is still OK

CHECK THROTTLE CABLE FOR LOOSE OR MISSING STRANDS THEY SOMETIMES JAM UP INSIDE THE OUTER CABLE AND PREVENT NORMAL RETURN?? :bigsmurf:

OK , its not the throttle cable, I disconnected the vacuum hose and plugged the holes. Put the gas tap on prime still the same problem???

What about the diaphrams in the top of the carbs - could that be causing some problem? Air leak in there somehow? The slides sticking made me think in that direction. Maybe someone already pointed in that direction? Just grabbing at straws here - it's an odd problem.........curious to hear the solution on this one.......

Check to see if the choke cable is routed correctly or too tight. try giving the choke lever a nudge from the right side of the carbs to see if it slows it down

I'm with you on that one Mark. Will it do it sitting still if you blip the throttle? If so, check the plungers in the crbs to see if they're sticking. Good luck!

Normally rev'in is due to a lean condition where the engine is getting more air than gas. Could be caused by the choke plunger sticking. On mine, if I have the choke on and move the handlebars from one side or the other the bike will rev up. I've moved the choke cable to give it more slack and its not enough now to worry about. Should be riding with the choke on anyway.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I think I may have found the problem, valve adjustment was incorrect.
The exhaust cog was advanced by 1 tooth, (my error).
I will let you know what happens in a day or 2.
