well, let see...... looks somewhat stock ! aftermarket mirrors, drag racing handlebars, 4 into 1 exaust, engine ????? well, i'm not telling !!!! :nonono: CHRIS

100% stock, If, let me repeat IF I modify it, it will be kept to bolt on items and I will retain all stock items replaced. Oh **** do progressive springs count. Maybe I'll go retro-mod.

Yep, lots of possibilities....3 ZLs, you are indeed a man amongst boys :)
And WELCOME to you to zl-oa, glad to have you on board, we have a ton of exciting stuff going on here, so stay tuned.
moab...

Okay I lied, I've ordered progressive springs (rear)to drop it. Damn it!!! I want to remain stock but the urge is too powerful... Looking at holeshot shifter now too. I need another one to play with.

YEAH i know how you feel ! i say, that i'm going to keep every motorcycle i buy stock, but once i start with any small change to personalize, the inner demons take over, & i go crazy !

to make a long story short, my bikes always keep the stock look in appearance(mostly), but i have never owned a motorcycle, that i did'nt shell out lots of $$$$$ for engine mods, & i never tell what i did, but, honestly, on my daughters life, i do not know yet, what has been done to my bike by previous owner, but i do know, " it definately, is not stock! "

My ZL900 is close to stock...
K&N stock air filter,
mini turn signals
and so far it's the only green and white one ?

I'm changing the color and the seat and I have pods, but
I have the old seat and there will always be black paint so I can restore it back to a stock look if I want to.
I like seeing the ideas that other people have had in moding their bikes. Some of them look very cool.

Tank modified

.

I have a modified tank.

The sides were cut off and tear shapes added.

Then repained and original decals replaced. Looks factory actually except for the purists out there.

I love it when someone who knows a ZL900 sees it and can't quite figure out what he sees. Something's there - what is it?

Kinda like loosing a couple of pounds and getting a hair trim.

So the back of the tank is the same basically but the sides bulge outward slightly.

Doesn't really effect the riding feel at all and I get another 100+ miles on a ride.

Sometimes I'd like to have an original stock tank just to have one.

I'll never change the pipes. Ruins the look in my humble opinion.

Tank Modified

I've been asked to post some pics of my tank ...

I will in the near future.

It's pretty cool job - unless you're a ZL eccentric a normal rider thinks it's factory ...

Yeah, pics of the tank would be great, sounds very interesting according to the description. Never really thought about that, get creative with the tank to get a few extra miles without really losing the look......hmmmmm........Later.

I'm a big stinkerer oopss I mean tinkerer. But actually prefer the stock look of the ZL1000 with only minor changes here and there. The ZL600 how ever was changed quite a bit by the previous owner and am putting many of the stock items back on OEM/Aftermarket repro's.
The turn signals for instance are going back to the original style as the ones the idiot put on werent the bright LED kind but some cheapo peanut bulb type like the old dash lights from my old 63 ford you couldnt see them hardly even at 10 feet away!!
Also he put aftermarket drag bars on which are bent and since my G/F doesnt like leaning over the tank to drive I am trying to find stock bars for hers as well as mine as the ones on my ZL1000 are bent also. (my bike was wrecked and they didnt bother telling me I had to find out the hard way)

For me...I'd like to keep it as stock as possible....with so few ZL's around these days impressing the population with an "as close as possible" 25 year old Eli is cool !
