This past Sunday my two Sons Jonathan, Jared and I finished up hauling off all the branches and half the trunk from the dead 65 foot sycamore tree. It took seven loads. We took it over to the fire pit in the woods which is about a mile from our house. The stump measured 30" at the base. We started at 6:30 AM and finished at Noon. Before the tree was down on the ground this one Tree Service Co. stopped by. He wanted $3200 to do what we did. .

May redo of my rental house, all new carpet and paint, including ripping out a built in and painting all the trim & doors new door hardware. New dishwasher, Along with 100 other little things.

Brother rents off me now and takes care of things, unlike the tenant I had in there for the last 5 years. Getting rid of cat piss smell is a chore, had to primer the master bedroom floor. Can't believe some people live like they do. That was a month straight of hard labor. When my brother doesn't need it anymore it's going up for sale.

Tree work isn’t cheep, I still help a friend out with his tree buisness from time to time and it pays very well.

If anyone needs a good case of sticker shock, get your roof quoted.

Sometimes I wish I wasn't so old and beat up, especially when paying for labor that I had the ability to take care of myself in the past.

I agree, it's awful hard to pay someone for things I can do myself but I've had to defer to pros more lately.

I had our 3rd new roof put on our house last October. 3,200 square ft. It was 14 years old. $21,000. Our Insurance paid 20K . Our house was built in November 1986. I did our 1st new roof by myself in 1998. Materials cost me $3,500. The second roof we did in 2004. Materials was $7,000.

Prepping for the new roof, got to get the trees off the house. I'm out of steam, love my BX and newer Husky XP saw. The little sthil saw still gets some limbing action. No crashes into the house, quit while I am ahead before being beat causes a mistake.

All crap wood that stinks when you burn it.

Completed getting all the trees off the house. The 16" dia oak was a heavy leaner directly towards it ~20-25' away from the house. Rigged rope to a wheel on a tree in the woods and down to the trucks. Red truck took slack and white pulled. My brother was driving in 4lo face timing so he could see me cut.

A couple of loud cracks and it was coming toward the house he matted the pedal and it pulled in the right direction thankfully. He said the rear wheels were in the air and it swung the truck about 15° from the way it was pointed, a lot like lethal weapon. Plenty of adrenaline to go around. I will kind of miss the trees in the corner where we put the fire pit.

Lots of bonfires going to be needed for all the ash trees. Check the red slide marks and the wheel spin marks from my truck.
