Hi all. I have been in touch with a silicone hose manufacturer in the UK and have had all the tooling made for the 3 cooling pipes that are no longer available for our bikes. The tooling has been produced from original pipes, so they will be the correct shape.

The set will consist of the top rear, top front and bottom hose. The 4th hose behind the rad is still available, and due to the cost of getting the tooling made up I have only had the 3 that we can't get, produced.

I am expecting the first few sets this week. There will be 2 finishes available. One is a gloss black, and the other is a black 'classic' wrap look. They can also be produced in red as well.

I haven't finalised a price as yet, and the tooling has cost me a hell of a lot of money...I will be selling them on ebay, and I am willing to ship to the USA as well.

What I am prepared to do for forum members is give a discount on the ebay price to anybody who fancies a set once I have tested the quality and fit and finish on my own bike, and I have worked the pricing out. As a rough guide, taking into account tooling costs etc, I am possibly looking at putting them on ebay for around £129 sterling + postage (but this is a provisional price, not finalised yet). If I did, I would offer the sets to the forum at around £110 sterling + postage (doesn't sound much, but it would save you USA guys about $30 on a set)

Please feel free to contact me with feedback regarding interest on the forum.

I will try to put some images up mid week of the pipes once I have had them delivered too me.

Cheers.

Rob.

I like the effort but think this might be a bit to expensive...
The set for memebers will be Usd 176 + shipping (that is 3 out of 4 hoses)

x2 on that.

You must have used the friendly exchange rate...mine came out to about $288 that is extreme for some hoses...I would stand at Napa and try to match something up or search Illustrated parts on another bike before I throw cash like that for some hoses.

Don't take me the wrong way either, I REALLY appreciate all efforts going into helping support the bike. I would still consider this as an option depending on the outcome of prices and parts available.

EDIT: Yeah I'm an idiot...I did the exchange for 176 GBP to USD...Duh...My bad I will keep my mouth shut now.

110 GBP = 180 USD. Still pretty spendy.

Are silicone hoses supposed to last longer than "regular" hoses?

What is "black 'classic' wrap look"?

Hi.

No, they are not Samco, as Samco were not intrested at all in dealing with a 'none trade' individual.

I do appreciate the exchange rate issue as well.

I did as much reaserch as I could regarding finding other pipes that are a similar shape and design to the ZL ones from any make of bike and after nearly 12 months I haven't found anything that I was happy with, or that seemed to come particularly close to them.

The classic wrap effect gives a dull 'older style' pipe look as opposed to them being shiny black, but as I said, I shall put some photos up once I have them, so you can see.

The silicone hoses are more robust and have a longer life expectancy than the normal EPDM rubber ones that were fitted OEM.

Cheers.

I'm still interested in seeing the photos and some reading about how long they last. There must be similar ones out there in use already.

Connie hoses? Are they a brand? Never heard of them.

No, sadly I have trawled the net until blue in the face. Nobody seems to have taken the plunge and had any made....ever, apart from me it seems. If you know different, please let me know, as I couldn't find any at all.

Cheers.

Rob.

No. The mandrils for the silicone hoses have been made from original, nearly new condition ZL900 hoses and will only fit the ZL750, ZL900 and ZL1000 (whithout the UK spec water cooled carbs).

Cheers.

Rob.

He was asking if the Conc hoses would work as replacements for the ZL (I think).

AH, I get you. No, checked them already. Apart fromt the one behind the radiator the ZG/GTR/Concours hoses are different and wouldnt fit.

I am a Technical Author by trade (I write and Illustrate manuals for Motor Corporations, Bike Manufacturers, White Goods manufacturers etc) so I have a lot of access to a lot of parts lists and parts Illustrations throught my contacts. As I said, I spent months and months going through spares for bikes and even some cars to no avail regarding the pipes.

So I decided to have silicone ones produced.

Cheers.

The Connie uses the ZL engine.
At least some of the hoses should match.
ZX11,ZZR12,1st gen. ZX10 and the Connie all have similar engines
and a lot of parts are interchangable.
I'll do some P/N comparisons today.

Already done it. THe ZL range have a larger radiator sighted in a totally different area, and the thermostat/housing and positioning are all different. The pipes are the same ID, but apart form that there is very little similarity apart form the same part number is used for the rear pipe in behind the radiator.

The only 3 bikes to ever use those hoses (sadly) were the ZL750, ZL900 and ZL1000 unfortunately.

Cheers.

Rob.

Update......hoses will be with me tonight. I shall try to get some photos done and put them on here. I will try to negotiate price with the guy, but dont hold your breath.

Cheers.

Well here they are. Ill try to take some better photos in the daylight tomorrow.

Good news on pricing, they are getting back to me tomorrow. Ill post as soon as they have confirmed.

Have a look at my album, as I've not figured how to insert an image into the post.

Cheers.

I'm actually getting prices on the factory ones.

39062-1128 $24.56
39062-1127 $10.16
39062-1126 $24.56
39062-1124 $10.10
39062-1072 $8.64

And 39062-1124 is also used on pretty much every Vulcan 800, so
that one should be available.
And 39062-1072 is also used on all the Connie 1000s.
I'll check the fiche for interchange on the others.

That's unusual, as Kawasaki UK, JP and America have all told me that they are no longer made.

Fair play if you can find some. And yes, that pipe is common to GPZ900R, GTR1000 (ZG), ZL750, ZL900, ZL1000, ZX10, GPZ1000RX and i think ZZR1100 as well. That's why I didn't have it produced. No point as it's still available.

Just to be clear, and avoid confusion, the pipes I have had made up are:

39062-1126
39062-1127
39062-1128

These 3 (to my knowledge and according to Kawasaki UK, JP and USA) are no longer produced.

Cheers.

Pricing finally agreed for the silicone hose sets of the 3 no longer available for the ZL's.

I have pinned them down and the very, very best I can do is £85 + postage (sterling) for x1 set of the 3 to forum members. This will NOT include clips, as they want as much for the clips as a set of pipes near enough.

They will be on ebay for £94.99 + postage, so I have taken the fees price I would be charged by ebay off the price of the ones for you guys as a gesture of good will on my part.

I only intend to have them produced in Gloss Black after reviewing the 2 finishes. I do intend to have more sets produced now, and don't want to get stuck with a finish I think may not be wanted.

I do appreciate that you USA boys will have the exchange rate to contend with, and after looking online at a currency converter it seems to run at about $138 dollars excluding the shipping to you. To be fair to you guys in the USA, I have cut my margin to recoup the tooling back to an absolute minimum, as I would like all the ZL riders to benefit from these pipes, not just the UK guys.

The lead time if I ordered today would possibly be about 2-3 weeks (but may be sooner, may be slightly longer). I am intending to have another 5 sets made up, I will have more done if I have definate orders, but will need payment via paypal first as I don't have an inexaustable bank account to keep dozens of these sets just lying around in a box.

Cheers.

Rob.

Wow......$138.00............that would be a non-starter for me and I suspect most guys here in the States.
