gasket and other stuff...

Just my 2 ct about 900-gaskets:
Beside ATHENA(http://www.athena-ad.com) there’s a 2nd company in Italy producing gasket kits: CENTAURO(http://www.centauro-srl.com). D’ont know if they sell directly to consumers as well but they have email – I’m not sure about the centauro part-# 722A902FL…???

Another thing: Our roadcaptain Uwe is looking for a set of exhaust manifolds for the ZL600 by LASER; anyone out there in the USA who can help to get them shipped to Germany? If possible please first tax the costs, the rest can be managed...

Thanx and greets, Harriminator.

Read it, what exactly do you mean by carb holders. Is this something that can currently be bought until the supply dries up or is it dried up already.

the rubber intake manifolds, yes the supply is gone, i've tried to order them, bike bandit, ron ayers, parts depot

Nice job on the tech doc Mark. Very well put together! Almost looking forward to the next time I have to pull out my carbs...!!!

You're absolutely right, anyone pulling their carbs and re fitting with old hardened rubber boots is only asking for a hard time...

Theres a tool I dont have, now I gotta go find me one of those, looks real handy!!... maybe just take a regular screwdriver and head to the anvil with a big hammer...lol

blag

I just ordered new rubber boots for my 86 ZL900 from thriftyrider.com. They didn't say anything about either of the parts being discontinued.

Carburetor Holder, P/N 16065, $22.84 ea

Duct #1 #3, P/N 14073A, $13.36 ea

Duct #2 #4, P/N 14073B, $13.36 ea

Hope this is helpful.

Good luck, I had ron ayers charge my credit card and then say they are discontinued over 3 days later. Keep us posted!

BTW the 16065-1134 are the discontinued parts

The others are available as they are the same as the 06 concours

You can get the "ducts" or airbox rubbers cheaper though Parts Depot. I did and glad I did, damn they are SOFT and will make reinstalling the airbox easier with them on.

I have the rubber boots if anyone wants to buy them. Still in good shape.

I don't know how OLD they have to be to make them too hard to make it EASY to get them back on, but the NEW ones will squeeze together with just 2 fingers at the thickest point and that is the part that goes into the airbox. It's $44 US + shipping through Parts Depot but well worth it IMO.

UP2U if you get new or not. :stir:

Great job on the Tech doc. Mark!! I am fortunate that my boots were pretty supple yet the last time I had my carbs off. I will check them again b4 the next pull. I may order a set "just in case", never know when one will rip.

I will try your hint on the coolant bottle too Rammy, an extra 1/4" is a LOT when sliding them out!

Toolmaker, I never heard of thriftyrider.com, have you used them in the past? I need to check the site out n see what they got to offer! Always looking fo another outlet!

Simple airbox removal tool, sawzall it off place
airbox in the round file and replace w/pods and you`re done.
:cool10:

wuputt,
I can't say if thriftyrider.com is really good or bad. I have only dealt with them twice so far. I will say I found them to be cheaper than bikebandit.com, they are an easy site to use, and they are a little slow on shipping. But like you said, they are another source for parts.

zlMark,
do you know of another part number that will work in place of 16065-1134 which is the carb. holders.

I just checked out the cam chain tensioner since I knew the price at PartsDepot.com, PD beat them by over $20.
Toolmaker, try PD for the parts you got n see how much you coulda saved.
