Ultrasonic Cleaner

I tried one of the "jewelry ultrasonic cleaners" once - similar to what you have listed in those links. It did not work very well in my opinion. Not sure what Rick uses, but the one I tried was pretty cheap. Later.

I tried to link the one I bought but it says forbidden. Look for an eBay seller by the name Factory direct sale. I bought a stainless one from them and it works awesome. It has a heater and timer. Also you want to watch what frequency it is. 40-42 kHz is what is recommended. The one I got is a 6L and will hold 2 bodies at once.

Here is the one I bought and works great. If I was doing it to make money I probably would have bought a nicer one. But along with a nicer one comes a nicer price tag.

While I bought a Fisher Scientific FS60H ultrasonic cleaner. These is what we used in our Areospace labs. I made a basket for larger items. I have a spare carb for my Yamaha sport quad that I am going to use as a test piece. I'm going to put it in semi complete just to see how it does cleaning the internals without removing them.

I'd watch rubber or plastic parts in there. Also be careful what kind of cleaner you use or it will turn the aluminum black.

To late it's dark gray but it looks great. The carb was full of rust & no plastic or rubber parts was harmed. I used a acidic cleaner in the water 3 oz to 1, 1/2 gal of water for getting the rust off. My son's girl friend works in a jewelry shop & they use sudsy ammonia. I'll try that.

I use Pine-Sol in mine and it works great. I bought a 5 gallon bucket of some fancy aluminum safe ultrasonic cleaner and it worked well as far as the cleaning aspect but I wasn't overly excited about the appearance of the carb. I think glass bead will get the bodies nice n shiney.

Thanks for the input. Does pine-sol have bleach in it. The manual says not to use bleach added products. Do you use heat. I did another test run using the sudsy ammonia. Not much difference. I also did a test run on some other small things such as brake linkage & hardware. They came out good.
