Vintage Motorcycle Days (VMD) 2013

Re: Vmd 2013

I also was considering a group ride to pay homage to Mark. I think it's around 65 miles or so one way to his resting grounds.

Re: Vmd 2013

Got Martina and I weekend tickets order in today!! Oh its on now brothers!!
I like the road trip to pay homage to our fallen brother and cult leader!:occasion14:
130 MILES ROUND TRIP  Hope there is enuff gas stations on that route for the zl900"s!! Thats like 6 or 7 gas stops!!:rotf:

Re: Vmd 2013

great idea chris. should do this every vmd.

thanks, but i do not want credit for this idea, as several of us have thought about doing this. i just wanted to share this to let everyone attending VMD's this year know, & gather input from everyone so this will be special..

Re: Vmd 2013

that's possibly 1 tank on a zl1k, if ridden responsibly. lmfao.

:hello: I get 120 miles to reserve when riding slow/easy. Not sure about reserve. I always fill up at that point. My last fill up I averaged 35 mpg. Is this good. MadMan if you wouldn't have to see how quick you can get to the next traffic light you would be able to go father.:rotf: Simma down & take in the sights. :laughing7:

Re: Vmd 2013

Just reserved a spot at campground #143. Can't wait to meet up with the group. Anyone that is between Fargo and lexington that needs a lift and isn't too far out of the way let me know and maybe we can work it out. The plan is to leave the 18th and drive straight through then leave sun night and drive straight through on the way home. Also have the 600 just sitting at home so if someone has a person that needs a bike for the weekend for the outings let me know and I will bring it with.

Re: Vmd 2013

LOVE the group ride to ZLMARK resting place.
Could someone respond to the "$100 vehicle pass" question...does that apply to motorcycles?

Re: Vmd 2013

I clicked on the vehicle pass purchase and it seems like it is for golf carts to drive around the grounds.

Re: Vmd 2013

since we as ZL-OA started going to VMD's in "07" i have never purchased a vehicle pass for truck & trailer. i think vehicle pass is for the racers to park their R.V.s in pit area, & possibly campers at track campground but not 100% sure . (most of us stay at another campground) i've always just purchased weekend pass, & never been asked to show vehicle pass when entering track grounds.

you will not need vehicle pass for your motorcycle (s), but you are required to have your general admission weekend pass on you, if you leave track grounds without your pass, then you will not be able to get back in without buying another ticket.

Re: Vmd 2013

No idea on the vehicle pass - if you are staying at the motel, you would probably be riding the bike each time to and from the vmd area - which is what almost all of us staying at the campground have always done and there has never been a $100 vehicle pass just to get in on a bike. Later.

Hey Dakota, are you planning to take I29 down to I90 then head East? If so, I just might hitch a ride with you! I am just a few miles off I 90.

Re: Vmd 2013

how far is the drag strip from the event and any idea on price 4 making a few passes?

Re: Vmd 2013

:hello: Ok this camp ground will not return my calls. They may be mad at me by now so if I do not end up getting a camp sight is it possible to split cost of a camp sight with someone.

Re: Vmd 2013

R. J., Looks like two reservations for camp ground have been made, Myself and Dakota. Markus will have the cabin again. As I have said to you before as long as we have several sites booked there should not be a problem with a second tent on any of the sites. It has been done before without a problem. I myself have extended a few acceptances to my site if needed.

Dragway 42 is about 40 miles North of Mid Ohio Raceway. I don't know what the rate is for test and tune there. 2013 schedule isn't on there yet.

Marion Speedway is about the same distance South, I think this is an 1/8th miler but dragstrip finder lists it as a 1/4. Test and tune is Friday nights, 6-11:30, Fee is $10

Here is a great tool!

Re: Vmd 2013

If I remember right, it's about the same as every other drag strip - it was either $20 or $25 to "run what you brung" and less to spectate. They did do a quick inspection also - some strips overlook this on test and tune night. They asked me to remove my fork bag - so your bike must be up to snuff as well as you will need the various pieces of gear - not sure how strict they are on this - helmet, gloves, jeans, jacket, boots (?), etc. Later.

I haven't even looked at the route yet, I was waiting to see if someone wanted to hitch a ride then pick the route. I90 sounds good though, I have the campsite thurs night through sun so I am hoping to get their thurs. night. but everything is flexible.

:hello: Thanks for the input. I called the camp grounds every day for 8 days some times more than once. The last time I called the message I left was telling them that they must not want my business & that it was unprofessional of them not to return my calls. I was nice about it. I have a tent that goes in the bed of my truck plus I have a back up tent. Thanks Again. R. J.

Re: Vmd 2013

Yeeha!

My boss just told me I can take a "half day" vacation on Friday!

I may be in town late, but I'll be there!

Yes!! I look forward to this every year for the last 4 years now.
Hanging with the Elimination and riding in the wolfpack of Eliminators can't be beat! What a rush!
