ZL 400 oil leak!

Hi folks, recently bought an 88 Zl 400 se. There appears to be a slight oil weep from between the cylinder head and cylinder block. Could this just require a cylinder head gasket and torque it back down? Common problem or just unlucky?

First off welcome to the site! Some one with some info will be along in no time to help! I don't know crap about the 400's

Clean it real good & inspect it again after a ride. At what location of the motor is the leak on. Is any air coming from the leak.

As R.J. asked, where is the leak? I'm going to guess that it is at the front of the engine between #2 & 3 cylinder. I have a very slight leak in this area of my 600 that appeared after the only time I had a shop do a valve adjustment. I do my own now. You could try to tighten the valve cover bolts a tad. Finally I don't think it is the cylinder head gasket but more likely the rubber valve cover gasket.
